Through interviews Rogers says they believe Kalogerakos' roommate, Mike Dauber, was the last person to see him.

Dauber is associated with another missing man from that area. I'll see if he has a thread here. His name is Josh James Reddington. Dauber was the last known person to see both men from what I'm reading.

Idaho City is a very small town of about 400-500 people. There were several other people missing from Idaho City and the surrounding Boise County (pop. 6600-7,000) area during this time.

FBI now involved in Boise County cold case

The Boise County Sheriff's Office hopes to dig up new leads in a 2007 missing person case by bringing on the FBI and Idaho State Police.

It’s a case that dates back to Dec. 28, 2007. That’s the last day anyone saw Steve Kalogerakos.

[snip]

Part of that information deals with a person of interest, Mike Dauber. Dauber is also a person of interest in a missing person case from 2000, involving Joshua Reddington from Salmon, Idaho.

Steve Kalogerakos' sister Maria, who spoke to KTVB over the phone from her home in Chicago, believes Dauber is more than a person of interest.

Arrest made in this case... Michael S. Dauber.

I know several people disappeared from Idaho City around the time and other places in Idaho. Hopefully more information will come. RIP Steve.

"Dauber is also a person of interest in a missing person case from 2000, involving Joshua Reddington from Salmon, Idaho."

"Gee said that Dauber shot Kalogerakos with a pistol, then used an ax and a bone saw to cut his body into pieces, put them in a plastic bag and then a ruck sack, before dumping the remains in a shallow grave in remote mountainous area several miles outside of Idaho City".

"Gee further claimed Dauber admitted to people that he not only killed Kalogerakos, but that he’s killed other people as well. He said Dauber claims to getting a high when he kills someone. No further details were given about the claim of other murders, but Dauber has long been considered a person of interest in the disappearance of Joshua Reddington from Salmon. Dauber was the last person to see Reddington in 2000".

Dismembered skeletal human remains have been found in a remote cabin and the property surrounding it in Boise County.

Idaho State Police say they found the remains on Tuesday during a search that resulted from new information.

Investigators say the remains are likely those of Joshua James Reddington, who has been missing since May 26, 2000. Detectives recently received information that led them to the cabin and property in search of the body at 13 Betty Lane in Boise County.

Idaho State Police detectives said the skeletal remains found in an isolated cabin near Idaho City are likely those of Josh Reddington of Salmon, who was 25 when he disappeared in 2000 after traveling from his hometown to Idaho City with a friend, Michael Dauber...

Dauber, 45, was originally from Chicago, where his father, William Dauber, was a mafia hit man who was himself gunned down with his wife in 1980, Idaho law enforcement officials said.

According to KTVB...In regards to Joshua Reddington

Pohto said her son was working in Polson, Montana doing helicopter logging. She was proud of him, and said he was even looking into enrolling in college.

"He had changed his whole life around," she said.

In 2000, during the Memorial Day weekend Josh and Mike Dauber, a coworker decided to travel to Boise to get some belongings.

That was the last time Pohto saw her son.

"Josh and Mike Dauber stopped here, and they were here about an hour and visited with me," she explained.

After Reddington didn't return to work in Montana, Pohto called Dauber and asked what happened.

"He said that they got into a big fight or argument, and he wasn't going to take him to Boise," she recalled.

Looks like Mike Dauber worked in several places. Anyone missing from Montana around that time? I wonder if Ahren Barnard could be a victim. There are MULTIPLE people missing from Boise County and other areas. I don't think these 2 victims, Reddington and Kalogerakos are the only two. Maybe the only two he got caught for. I wonder if we should track the places he lived, etc? What is his motivation? Money? Rage?

A 46-year-old man being held in Ada County jail on first degree murder is now charged with the killing of a 25-year-old Idaho man who went missing back in May of 2000.

The Boise County Sheriff's Office says Michael Dauber has been charged with the murder of 25-year-old Joshua Reddington of Salmon. He was served with the charges Monday by Boise County prosecutors...

Dauber is scheduled to be in Ada County court on the new murder charge Dec. 29.

After seven hours of witness and expert testimony Friday, Ada County Magistrate Judge John Hawley Jr. found enough evidence that Michael Dauber killed his friend Joshua Reddington to advance the first-degree murder case to district court...

Dauber’s former roommate, Tom Tiffany, testified Friday that he saw Reddington’s body in the loft of their Idaho City cabin during the Memorial Day weekend of 2000. He recalled Dauber rousing him from sleep and seeing Reddington on the floor of the second-floor loft with a hole in his forehead...

Tiffany recalled hearing the sound of a saw and bones cracking that night. DNA testing on a single bone fragment found in the crawl space last October was a close match to Reddington’s biological mother, according to experts called by the prosecution. A single bullet hole was found in the floor of the cabin’s loft, ISP detective Joseph Lake said.

A Boise County man police say killed and dismembered another man and then hid the remains beneath an Idaho City cabin has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. Forty-six-year-old Michael Dauber made the plea Thursday in Boise County Court.

Prosecutors say Dauber killed 25-year-old Joshua Reddington of Salmon in 2000...

A trial date has been set for Aug. 3 at the Ada County Courthouse in Boise.

Michael S. Dauber is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Joshua Reddington, a 25-year-old Salmon man. Boise County prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty...

The murder trial was scheduled to start Aug. 3, but more time was needed for scientific work and “discovery”...

Jury selection will begin Aug. 19 and the trial is set to begin Sept. 12, 2016. The trial is expected to take several weeks.

Thanks for the updates on this case.

May I ask a question since I haven't followed this case. If his ex-roommate saw the victim dead with a hole in his head back when it happened then why did it take so long to come to trial? How quickly was he arrested after the victim was murdered?

It takes a very cold person to dismember a person and it seems it would be even harder if the victim was once his friend.

I am glad to see they are going to ask for the death penalty.

TIA

Oh my goodness, I wonder if there are more men out there who are missing that this man has killed. It sure shows if a murderer gets away with their crime for years they will feel confident enough to do it again. I wouldn't be surprised if he has killed more than these two men. Do you know if there are more missing men in this area? tia

Dauber is also charged with first-degree murder in the death of Steven Kalogerakos, a 42-year-old who went missing in December of 2007. Kalogerokos’ dismembered body was found in a shallow grave outside Idaho City.

I went back and read some of the other articles. WOW! To me it is obvious this man very well could be a serial killer. I hope they find out who all of his victims are so the families can have some semblance of peace.

Idaho City man who murdered and dismembered 2 gets life in prison

http://www.ktvb.com/news/crime/idaho-city-man-who-murdered-and-dismembered-2-gets-life-in-prison/343840854

An Idaho City man who killed two men, chopped them into pieces, and discarded their remains in a remote area of Boise County was sentenced Friday to life behind bars.

Michael Stephen Dauber, 45, will be eligible to seek parole after 17 years.

Family members of the murdered men - 25-year-old Joshua Reddington and 45-year-old Steve Kalogerakos - confronted the killer in the courtroom.

Vera Pohto, Reddington's mother, said she can't bring herself to forgive Dauber. In a letter she became too overcome with emotion to read, she called him "a cold-blooded killer" and accused him of showing no remorse for the murders.
