Here we go again. It never ends.

Mass shooting with at least five victims has been reported on Airport Way South in Seattle

The Seattle Fire Department said it was responding to a "multiple casualty incident" on 1500 Airport Way South, but provided no other details. It said multiple units were responding to the scene and footage from the scene showed a major emergency response.

Pretty awful. 2 people are dead. They have two people they want to talk to, but haven't got them in custody yet. Of the five shot, four were women. Gah. Heart breaking.

Tuesday's shooting happened just minutes before Seattle Mayor Ed Murray delivered a special, televised address to give an update on the city's efforts to address homelessness.

Two people were killed and three were hurt in a shooting at a homeless encampment south of downtown Seattle.

Seattle Police say at around 7:15 p.m., police received reports of gunfire near the 1500 block of Airport Way South.

Officers began searching a greenbelt where there is a homeless encampment known as “The Jungle,” and found the five victims.

One person was dead at the scene, four victims were taken to Harborview Medical Center. Their ages range from 25 to 45.

"We've got gunshot wounds to the chest, the abdomen," said Harborview spokeswoman Susan Gregg.

One male died. Two victims were in critical condition, another was in serious condition.

Police say all of the victims lived at the camp.

"The scene is tents and multiple shots were fired up there," said Seattle Assistant Police Chief Robert Merner.

Police are searching for two "persons of interest" in the shooting. They did not release any further information about the suspects.

“We have reason to believe it was very targeted”

"We have reason to believe it was very targeted," said Merner.

The Seattle Department of Transportation said Airport Way was expected to be closed well into the night and possibly into the morning.

Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O'Toole said they have several leads and are interviewing witnesses.

Later, at a press conference at the scene of the shootings, Murray said “We are involved in a homeless crisis, the likes that we have not seen since the great depression.”

Murray said his emergency order to expedite the creation of two safe lots for homeless people who live in RVs or cars, issued last week, was not a gimmick.

“It was an actual plea that Seattle by ourselves cannot deal with this crisis. It was an actual plea to the state and federal government to assist us," he said.

Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of two people at a Seattle homeless camp known as "The Jungle," police said.

The suspects — ages 13, 16 and 17 — were detained Monday at another homeless camp less than a mile from where the shooting was carried out last week, Seattle police said.

The trio, who have not been identified by officials, were interviewed and scheduled to be booked into a youth detention center "for investigation of homicide," the police department said.

Investigators believe the shooting may have been related to low-level drug dealing, Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O'Toole told a news conference Monday, according to NBC affiliate KING.

The police chief called the shooting a "senseless act of violence," adding that there were "definitely" three people at the scene, at least two of them shooters.

Three teenage brothers accused of killing two people and wounding three others in The Jungle had gone to the homeless encampment to settle a $500 drug debt owed to their mother, Seattle police allege in newly released documents.

Witnesses to the Jan. 26 shooting identified the boys to police, who then employed informants to record conversations in which the suspects acknowledged the shooting, police wrote in an affidavit of probable cause that outlines the case against the defendants. The brothers also sold a .45-caliber handgun, one of two weapons used in the shootings, to an informant, police allege.

A King County juvenile judge on Tuesday found probable cause to hold the brothers, ages 13, 16 and 17, on investigation of two counts of felony murder and three counts of first-degree assault, as well as for unlawfully possessing firearms.
