7 detectives and 2 Sergeants who investigated crimes against children have been put on paid leave.

The Kansas City Police Department has suspended two sergeants and seven detectives as part of an internal investigation into the departmentís crimes against children unit, the department announced Thursday.
A major internal investigation in the Kansas City Police Department is focusing on a unit of the department tasked with protecting children. Police Chief Darryl Forte said he ordered the investigation after learning some of the cases in the Crimes Against Children section were not being addressed in a timely manner.
