The shirt at the link is being modeled by what appears to be a white guy. I was struck by the irony.

odd that a white female would be wearing a black family t shirt.

The railroad tracks suggest homeless to me, perhaps the shirt was chosen for something other than the design. Effort to fit in with a group?

Could she have been of mixed race but identified as black and/or was raised by her black relatives? Perhaps her remains were identified as white because her skull had more Caucasian features. In life, she may have been casually viewed as white.

Both of those are certainly possible.

She could have been in a relationship with a black man. Or maybe it was just the nicest shirt in the charity bin.

true. either it was a donated or found item of clothing, or maybe she hung out around mostly black folk.

The railroad tracks suggest homeless to me, perhaps the shirt was chosen for something other than the design. Effort to fit in with a group?

All Black Vintage 100% Black Family “It’s A Pride Thing” Tee

Found her shirt again. It looks like some african american pride thing in missouri. Either some club or a band or something.
But in any case I doubt a white girl would wear that if she did not have black family. I am also almost certain she was black or biracial, maybe even white passing but strongly identified with the black community.
You dont pick a shirt with such a strong and specific message from a goodwill bin if you have no connection.

She would not be the first case mislabeled as white by anthropology. It is tricky sometimes if you only have skeletal remains.
