Police ask help in finding missing Mountlake Terrace woman

Mountlake Terrace -
Mountlake Terrace police are asking for the public's help in locating a missing woman.

Cheryl DeBoer, 54, was supposed to meet a friend at the Mountlake Terrace Park and Ride lot and carpool to work Monday morning. She texted her friend around 7 a.m. saying that she would catch a bus instead; she has not been seen or heard from since.

Her vehicle was located parked in the 23400 block of 58th Avenue SW in Mountlake Terrace.

This is close to me. It is hard to imagine anything sketchy happening at a Park and Ride at peak commuter time. Worrisome.

Police searching for missing Mountlake Terrace woman
Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a Mountlake Terrace woman who was reported missing on Monday.

Cheryl DeBoer, 54, was supposed to meet a friend at the Mountlake Terrace Park and Ride lot and carpool to work, Mountlake Terrace police said. She texted her friend around 7 a.m. Monday indicating that she would catch a bus instead.

Her husband reported her missing midday Monday after he heard she did not show up for work, Assistant Police Chief Pete Caw said. DeBoer works at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, according to her LinkedIn page.

Her car was found parked in the 23400 block of 58th Avenue Southwest in Mountlake Terrace, police said.

Dozens of volunteers joined law enforcement Tuesday morning to search near that location and the downtown Seattle area where DeBoer typically gets off the bus, according to police and a Facebook page dedicated to finding her. As of 3:30 p.m., Caw said they had not found anything helpful.

Anyone can send a text; her plans changed at 7 AM but did she change them?

I wish they had included the information about how her husband was notified and by whom.

Fred Hutch is not in an especially bad part of town, though there is a transient element. And I think there would have been plenty of people around at that hour; my husband takes a bus along that same route, around 6:45, and has plenty of company. Mountlake Terrace is also not a bad area. This is mysterious.

In this previous link that I posted:

http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20160209/NEWS01/160209200

the article mentions that her husband "received a call from her employer, reporting that she had not shown up."

I moved from near there a year ago. This is crazy!

I'd like to know more about her husband finding out. Also, who else she's close with in the area.

The address where her car was found seems to be the entrance to the Veterans Memorial Park. She could walk through this park to get to the Transit Center/Park and Ride. But, had she been either car pooling or getting the bus it would have been easier for her to just park at the actual Transit Center. Unless she particularly wanted a walk. I do hope this lady is ok.

It is a fairly small transit center but it does have a parking structure, and the immediate surroundings are fairly wooded. A perp could hide. Still, I believe there would have been plenty of people around at the time. I can't really picture her being grabbed without witnesses.

All the news broadcasts I've seen since yesterday have features this story, and flyers are being posted.

Reporter on KCPQ just said the police regard the disappearance as having happened under "suspicious circumstances." hmmm.

She appears to be an owner of a local consulting service. I am not finding much info about it. I wonder if or how this ties in with her job at a cancer research center. Might she have a disgruntled client or something??

I wonder when was the last time anybody actually saw her?

I wonder if there are cameras there or nearby to catch when her car actually arrived
in the area it was found?

Did she drive the car herself? Did she have a passenger?

IMOO.
