GUILTY WY - Konnor Allen, 2, dies of head trauma, Green River, 9 March 2009

The trial has been continued for a former Green River Police Officer who has been charged in the death of a two-year-old boy in 2009.

Jacob Rollen Anglesey, 35 of Green River, is set to go to trial on September 11, 2017 in order to provide his defense more time to review the evidence. The trial was previously set to begin in February.

With a little under two weeks to go before the start of the three-week trial set for September 11th no continuance will be granted after today’s hearing on the defense’s motion.

After previous continuances, Judge Lavery ordered that the prosecution and law enforcement agents must sign an affidavit that all information has been given to the defense and they must be filed with the court by Friday.

Jacob Rollen Anglesey, 35 of Green River, pleaded No Contest to a superseding charge of Voluntary Manslaughter in the death of two-year-old Konnor Allen.

He is facing the maximum of up to 20 years imprisonment.

Jacob Rollen Anglesey, 35, was sentenced today by 3rd Judicial District Judge Rick Lavery to serve 16 to 20 years imprisonment. Anglesey received 679 days of credit for time served.

Judge Lavery told Konnor’s parents that he wished he could bring Konnor back, but he could not.

“I hope that when we leave here today you can begin to heal,” he told them.

Judge Lavery told Anglesey that he could see an anger in him, and that being an officer sworn to protect weighed against him.

Cory Allen and Phylicia Rasdal voiced their shared contempt for Anglesey with a vitriol that could be felt.

“(Konnor) was my best friend, not yours,” Cory Allen told Anglesey in a raised voice. “You are a child murderer … you hid behind your badge instead of take responsibility … you destroyed me. You took my future.”

Cory Allen also said Anglesey never showed remorse or apologized to him or Rasdall.

“For two years I have seen you disrespect the state,” Rasdall said. “That little boy is gone and that’s because of you. You are … a monster. What did you do to my baby?” she cried. “His brain was so swollen it was coming out of his skull.”
