At the time of his disappearance Dikran was a medical student from Cambridge University vacationing in the United States with plans to visit Florida after his stay at Yosemite and then back to Cambridge. Hello Websleuths. I am an agent with the National Park Service and have been assigned the Dikran Knadjian cold case. I have read through the original file as well as the threads on this site. If anyone has any information about this case specifically please feel free to contact me.

The family is still very much invested in this case and willing to help me. It is quite possible that Knadjian did suffer a fall somewhere in the park but many of the remains found were not linked (at the time this was via dental records). I am pursuing getting the status of all of our DNA evidence that is in inventory. The original investigation was lengthy and conducted very well but perhaps there may be a way to make some progress now. I am not usually in the habit of reaching out to the online community with most of my cases (most my cases are not 40 plus years old either), but it seems that there is a lot of good information on here and this case has had no movement in a long time so any progress would be helpful.

Thank you for consolidating this information. I look forward to cracking away at it.

Rounding up his links all in one place. Most of these are elsewhere in the thread as well, but I thought it would be convenient to have them all together.

This appears to be a death notice for the family matriarch in 2014. Dikran's name is included as a survivor: http://www.torontoarmenianchurch.com/late-frieda-knadjian/ She seems to have died in Toronto.

This is an article in the Santa Cruz Sentinel from August 28 reporting on the search. You have to belong to newspapers.com to see it: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/61058702/

Hello everyone I know that I have been gone for a long time. I am the one who suggested that Dikran may be the man that was under the mystery couple in South Carolina. If there is anything that I can help with or if you need me to pull up what information I had found the first time around I do not mind doing that. Not a day has gone by that I have not thought about him or what has happened. Something has just been pulling at me to log back in and I am glad that I did and I am glad that you are looking into this again

Being familiar with Yosemite and having climbed Half-Dome myself, I'd say the chances are pretty high that this a case where the body was never found or it was found too late to be identified with the technology of the period. Half-dome is not an easy climb and it is a LONG climb. If you start too late, spend too much time getting to the top, spend too much time at the top, you will be coming back through the back woods in the dark. It's easy to get lost, to get hurt on the trail, to slip and fall in multiple places. The mist trail alone is notorious in broad daylight, it's extremely dangerous (especially in wet years) after dusk. If you come back too late, the shuttle buses are no longer running the entire route and you have to hike an additional ways to reach either a shuttle or your campground. Sadly, there is nothing mysterious about someone going missing in Yosemite while hiking. Especially if they were hiking alone.

Just giving a little bump.

It looks like all the posts with suggested UID matches have been removed from this thread. I didn't keep a record of it because WS is my record-keeping source. I don't suppose anybody else happens to remember some of them?

Dikram's Namus entry The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

He's been excluded as 27 different UIDs, all from either California or Virginia. These are the California cases:
