Rock Creek woman missing

Rock Creek, British Columbia, Canada -

Midway RCMP are asking for the public's help in locating a missing Rock Creek woman.

Colleen Sylvia Smith was last seen on the morning of Feb. 9, and police are concerned about her well-being.

“Colleen was reported missing after not showing up for work and has not been in contact with her friends or family since Feb. 9,” said Cpl. Judson Mayes.

“Police are very concerned for Smith's health and well-being, and friends and family report that it is out of character for her to be out of contact for this long.”

Police believe she is driving a blue, 2005 four-door Chevrolet Cobalt with B.C. licence plate 914 WFB.

Cat stolen twice and dumped in coyote-inhabited wilderness
February 19, 2014

Snipped...
...The story, however, didn’t end there.

Four days later, Colleen Smith from Rock Creek, announced on Facebook that she and her husband had just rescued Kobau from a tree in the Kettle River Conservation Area several kilometres north of Rock Creek – a distance of about 55 km from Kobau’s home.

“Apparently someone has it in for this cat,” wrote Smith on the Osoyoos Times Facebook page. “People need to be aware that there’s a cat hater in Osoyoos. Leaving a cat in a provincial park full of coyotes is sick! Twice in one week is not an accident.”

It's very difficult not to see some similarities here. I hope Colleen is found soon because the thought of kitty abducting bait is a very difficult territory to travel through.

It seems rather unusual that Colleen Smith and her car were reported missing in Rock Creek when she didn't show up for work on Feb 9 (her car was found hours/miles away in Kelowna in May) AND Christine MacMillan and her car were reported missing in Calgary on April 17 when she didn't show up for work. Her car is still not found. Neither Colleen nor Christine have been found.

Is someone travelling from Southern BC north, and then into Alberta? Might Christine's car be in Saskatchewan or Manitoba, or in Fort McMurray?

How do two women in their 50s vanish on Feb 9 and Apr 17 and the first woman's car is 6 hours from the second woman's disappearance.

Perhaps I'm becoming a conspiracy theorist, but that each of these events is so rare (barring suicide on a beautiful Spring day), and the distances so interesting, I have to wonder if there's someone else between the two cities who has not yet been reported missing.

What about a hitchhiker from Kelowna to Calgary?

Why was the car abandoned in a parking lot in Kelowna?

Is this someone who crossed the border near Rock Creek and has travelled North?

FWIW...Just an observation in follow up to otto's line of thinking...

Caitlyn Potts from Enderby BC hasnt been heard from since Feburary 22nd - its been said she may have been using some type of 'ride share' service to get to Calgary -- her whereabouts are still unknown...

Here's her thread: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...anada-Caitlyn-Potts-27-Enderby-BC-22-Feb-2016

If these are related, and there is a travel path from the US border north through BC and into Alberta involving carjacking women driving alone - was Fort MacMurray the next stop, or Saskatchewan?

If one person is carjacking from the border to Calgary, maybe there is another missing car South of Enderby - or, if there is no car, perhaps the woman who went missing second will be found close to home?

This is all based on the premise that one person is responsible for three missing women in the last 3-4 months between the US border near Osoyoos and Calgary.

Vernon/North Okanagan, Ashley Marie Simpson last seen on April 27. Kelowna, Jacqueline Fernandes last seen March 31. Let's not forget about Victoria Crow shoe, whose body was found at the Old Man Dam just west of Lethbridge on September 13, 2015. The route would appear to be south of Calgary through the Crowsnest Pass and up through Kelowna in a loop back to Calgary, given the most populated areas. In so far as the carjacking, one person to drive the victims car to another location to offset the urgency of the investigation and one person to drive the transport vehicle with the abducted woman in it. No surprise that along this route the m.o. of a rideshare would be used as a hook and bait.

The carjacking theme brings back memories of Kelsey Kramer from the Drayton Valley area who was last heard from on March 19 and whose vehicle was found near to Drayton, while her body was found on April 1 in the Genesee Natural Area, far enough away to indicate again at least 2 people involved, one to move her vehicle off the route of her travel and one to drive the transport vehicle and her to another location. Bringing us back to the Edmonton area.

I would go as far as Saskatchewan and there does appear to be a route from Edmonton to Yorkton. Two cases on this route come to mind, Saskatoon, Kandice Singbeil last seen May 25, 2015 and more recently, Mekayla Niebergall, reported missing on April 12 from Yorkton.

Imo, would definitely put the number of at least 2 abductors with no conspiracy theory attached but rather with the reasonable explanation of attachment as to the how of some of these abductions are being accomplished when a victims vehicle is in need of being relocated and whereby swift force to confinement is concerned. As we have seen with the Kamloops Bad Santa attempted abductions operating by oneself seems to be an adventure in futility when age is taken into consideration.

Christine MacMillan has been located; however, there are a few others over recent time that haven't. Perhaps a new map otto? One that includes the loop and brings us back to Edmonton to a two week cycle and a full time job on the road.

It appears that there are a total of (5) women missing from this small area. Although RCMP seem quite confident that these cases are unrelated. All these cases are inside a 100km radius of Kelowna.

Seems like an unusual amount in a short time frame, in a small area. I do hope they are all found safe, and this is all just a coincidence.

I have started mapping these and other cases here.

I have just read posts by both the RCMP and Elisha Nixon's mom, that Elisha has been found safe and well.

This is great news to hear !!

Went missing two years ago today. Hope she is safe and sound. Such a strange situation with her car, though.

March 2018:

Rock Creek Woman Still Missing Two Years Later

There’s still hope that a woman who has been missing from Rock Creek for two years will be found.

[Close friend Erika] Tafel also says that small towns talk, and asks that you speak up if you’ve heard anything.

She adds that new possible new information surfaced recently. RCMP have been made aware but nothing is confirmed.
