Oklahoma City police detectives are investigating whether a mother is to blame for her teenage daughter's disappearance in 2014 and whether a well-known landlord was involved in hiding the girl's body...

The girl, Geanna Durham, was last seen by friends in Oklahoma in May 2014, police said. She would then have been 13 or 14. Her last activity on her Facebook page was on May 15, 2014.

Police became aware the girl was missing on Feb. 2 when officers went to help a Department of Human Services worker pick her up at her mother's home...

Durham, of Oklahoma City, could face a more severe charge if a girl's body found Feb. 9 in a Spencer landfill turns out to be her daughter, officials said. Police and prosecutors are waiting for a report from the state medical examiner's office.

aw sheesh. It just never ends. And we never get any closer to understanding, why do people do this? How can they?

On Feb. 2, police said they were made aware of a missing female teenager.

She had reportedly been missing for a while.

"We believe she may have been missing for a year or longer," said Oklahoma City Police MSgt. Gary Knight. "We only received word on it about a week ago, and this happened quite a while back, so it's not a new case."

Police are investigating the body found as a suspicious death. Police sources tell KOCO the person they believe to be a suspect in the case is involved in human trafficking. The source says they believe the body was thrown away in a dumpster and that's how it ended up in the landfill.

The "mother" ??? I can't even wrap my head around this kind of evil. I'm not even sure I want to.

I think this story is rapidly developing now that Geanna has finally been reported missing. I have a feeling initial reports are sketchy and the details will flesh out in the coming weeks if this is indeed her body.

I think you're probably right but it sure seems clear they have a suspect. What blows my mind about cases like this (aside from the sick fact that the parents are responsible) is that a kid can be missing for a year or more and NO ONE comes forward and says "hey, where's Geanna? I haven't seen her in a year??" No friends, no family, no teachers, no one. NO ONE. In this day in age when every kid over the age of 10 is on social media, how is that even possible??

It boggles the mind. Usually in cases like that it is in families that move frequently, are somewhat estranged from close family members, and have told people who might inquire the child went to live with dad, mom, grandma, or another relative. Those seem to be common denominators in cases where the child was not reported missing for long period.

This kind of stuff ticks me off. Missing for more than a year is ridicules. That poor beautiful child..

How sad this is. Doesn't seem like there was anybody out there looking out for Geanna.

The mother of a missing Oklahoma City teenager was charged Monday with child neglect.

Reshawnda Laney Durham has been held in the Oklahoma County jail since Feb. 3...

Reshawnda Durham is accused in the first count of neglecting her 3-year-old son by leaving him alone. She is accused in the second count of neglecting her newborn son by exposing him to marijuana. She is accused in the third count of neglecting Geanna by failing to provide adequate care for the girl since May 2014.

Still waiting on ME's report.

"Police searched Scott's Storage unit in Del City, where a witness "overheard an employee talking about an employee at the storage facility finding a body inside of a chest wrapped in blankets and plastic wrap," according to court documents.
"The subject who found the body described seeing a human leg bone with some tissue still attached along with a pelvic bone," the documents read. "The subject advised he notified his relative who works at the storage unit, and they contacted the owner who advised them to throw the trunk containing human remains into a dumpster."
Police have searched several areas near the storage facility, including the home of Reshawnda."

So someone put the body in the storage unit, and then when the employees came across it they threw it in a dumpster rather than reporting it?? What the heck??

I wonder if the body had been in the storage unit since 2014 :(

whiskey tango?

I don't even know what to say. I am glad they eventually tipped off authorities but what on earth would possess them to just do as told and toss the trunk and remains into the dumpster?????

Foxtrot!

Everything about this defies belief.
Missing for a year with no one wondering where she is, the possible landlord involvement, the owner of the storage place saying to just chuck a body and the employees complying??

WHAT?!?!?!

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is right! I'm sorry, but I would have been calling 911 immediately! Screw asking anyone what to do, then complacently throwing the poor soul into a dumpster!!!!!
