This one grabbed my interest as it's very local to me, plus there is quite a lot of CCTV documenting George's little tour of Yorkshire.

George left his home in Harrogate last Wednesday, he arrived in Leeds by bus. It has been revealed today he then got another bus to York, and then back to Leeds on Thursday. Seems there is CCTV to verify all this.

Mr Bass is described as white, 5ft 4in tall with grey receding hair, brown eyes and a pale complexion. He was last seen wearing a grey waterproof jacket with a blue fleece underneath, brown trousers, a dark blue hat, dark blue gloves and black shoes.

Thanks for posting about this man.
I saw it on the news last week that he'd been seen in Leeds bus station.
But York and back too?
I wonder where he stayed the Wednesday night in York?

One consolation, he's dressed well for the weather and in the Facebook link, he's shown with a Greggs bag ( I think) so he's eating too.

Police seem to think, as he's not been seen leaving on any more buses, that he's still in the Leeds area.

Just hope he's safe and contacts his family soon.

You would think there'd be other CCTV of him (other than from the buses) as he has been in two cities. Leeds, certainly, has CCTV all over the place, I'm hard pushed to think of a direction he could have gone in to avoid it. I used to live within spitting distance of Leeds bus station and know that area like the back of my hand.

Im presuming he wasn't known to have had a rail card but he could have used the train too.
Like you I'm surprised he hasn't been seen on more CCTV, it's everywhere.

I think this bit is new, at least I can't remember seeing it:
__________

"George has a habit of clenching his hands when he walks. When he is not wearing gloves he has a habit of touching each finger in turn to his thumb, as if he's counting."

__________

It's not much, but could make him easier to identify.

I can't believe he's been missing 9 days, in a city, in MY city. The police appear to have ruled out that he caught another bus, and I guess there's CCTV at the train station entrance so has he gone elsewhere on foot or in a taxi?

@Skibaboo, back to your city!

Possible sighting in York on Thursday (Tesco, Askham Bar)

Wth? Have I had my head up my butt? I haven't seen this mentioned by the press either. That's MY Tesco, it's about a mile down the road from me, I'm about to go there soon. I went to Tesco on Thursday but no, I went to Clifton Moor Tesco as I'd had a dentist appt up there. *sigh*

Oh well keep your eye out while you're there!

Tesco must have better CCTV than that one picture. I wonder how it came about that they even viewed it? Someone must have reported they saw him there so they checked back on the tapes?

I know it's really hard to tell in these CCTV pics, but I'm really not seeing it either. It even looks like the new pic (middle) is someone in skinny jeans.

That can't be him, can it?

Thanks for posting the pics side by side. Skinny jeans and a denim shirt? Not the attire of a grandad in my opinion so I don't think it's him, the police must have reason to release it though. Maybe the family thought it was a possibility.

Looks like a woman to me too? Maybe it's the angle? I think the photo is taken in the first aisle. Those look like cereal boxes, maybe shredded wheat? they have those in the first aisle with a bunch of special offers.

When I went to Tesco the other day I did look, but I'm not even joking. I think I saw a dozen grey haired elderly men in the car park alone on the way in! I looked around and didn't see any missing posters or anything, nothing. If this is a confirmed sighting they need to get some of those up in there!

This article isn't specifically about George, but it does mention him:

In North Yorkshire, police have been searching for two weeks for missing Harrogate 77-year-old George Bass, who has yet to be found despite being spotted in Leeds and York and a series of appeals being issued by officers.

Mr Bass is not understood to have any mental health condition that would have contributed to his disappearance.

I'd assumed there was possibly some form of dementia involved, but it doesn't sound like it.

I really hope he turns up soon.

George has been found, he is one of the 5 bodies found in the River Calder recently. I did wonder when I saw it was a 77 year old.

EDIT TO ADD, seems it was another 77 year old who was found on 23rd. George, also 77, was found on 25th a couple of miles upstream. Strange coincidence...

This is so weird!

RIP George
