Galax mother and 21-month-old daughter victims of double homicide, killer at large

Galax, Virginia -
A 28-year-old mother and her 21-month-old daughter are dead in what police are calling a double homicide.

On Thursday, Alyssa Ann Kenny and her daughter Anastasia Leighann Alley were found dead inside their home on Laurel Street in Galax, Va. The two are lovingly referred to as Ally and Ana by family and friends.

“People don’t realize, an act of violence, the domino effect with the families and the friends,” said Alyssa’s mother, Stacy Ludy.

Ludy said Alyssa wanted nothing more than someone to love her unconditionally, adding that she gained that person on the day Anastasia was born.

“She lived and breathed that child,” Ludy said.

Ludy and other family members were visiting Alyssa from Pennsylvania and drove to her house on Thursday not knowing what had happened in the hours before.

“And we found police tape and cops and dogs,” said Rose Kenny, Alyssa’s aunt.

GALAX, Va. - Galax police have identified a person of interest after a woman and her infant daughter were found dead inside a home.

Police are not saying who the person of interest is at this time, but they say the person is not the child's father.

Clifton Alley is the grandfather to Anastasia and says he was good friends with Kenny.

"I don't see what in the world would make someone do a horrible thing like that," said Alley. "I use to take her to the store and stuff like that and I though the world of that little girl."

I perused FB, and from what I can tell, the child's father is in jail, which makes me wonder if it was some kind of retaliation against him. Otherwise, why kill the child too? She's not even two, so it's not like she could be a witness or anything like that.

Police are now asking anyone with information on any suspicious activity to come forward. Specifically, they want to know if people saw anything around Laurel Street or E. Stuart Drive/North Main Street just before midnight on Wednesday, March 9 or early Thursday, March 10.

A Galax Police Department source is advising that an arrest has been made on Tuesday evening in the March 10 homicide of Alyssa Kenny and her daughter, Anastasia Alley.

Police do not have any further details at this time.

Richard Noftsinger, Jr., 36, was charged Tuesday with one count of capital murder and one count of first-degree murder in the deaths of Anastasia Alley, 28, and Alyssa Kenny, 21 months.

Arduca told FOX8 they don’t know of a connection between the mother, daughter and Nofsinger. “She’s never mentioned that name to anybody that I know of,” he said.

The family is also still waiting for their official cause of death but said remnants from their killings told part of the story.

“When we saw the bodies, we knew they fought. You could see the marks. There wasn’t enough makeup that could have covered it. It was a violent death,” Arduca said.
