Yikes is right.
In scanning earlier link, I thought I had it back-azz-wards.
And not just a short-time state trooper.
Per http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2016...parent-pennsylvania-turnpike-robbery-attempt/,
"Clarence Briggs worked for the PSP for 26 years before retiring in 2012." bbm

Imo, unexpected, at least on the surface. JM2cts.

I live in Washington state so I have absolutely no idea about the turnpike system on the east coast. How much money would a perp expect to gain from this type of robbery? He must have expected a substantial yield but I always thought most commuters utilized an EZ pass so as not have to deal with cash.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Example of the Below "Semi-Trailer":

Traveling the Maximum PA Turnpike Distance to Fort Littleton ( 265 Road-Miles )

5 Axles :: Weight Class 7 :: $160 Cash

[Yes, EZ-Pass would cost less, $130.]

Illustrated Example:

5 Axles :: Weight Class 7
(62,001 to 80,000 Pounds)
80,000 Lbs. = 40 Tons

"Semi-Trailers" = Part of the Trailer Load
rests on the Rear Wheels of the Tractor

also known as 18 Wheelers

I thought it was kind of a strange target for a robbery as, like you, I wouldn't think most toll booths would have a lot of cash but he might have been intending to rob the truck that was collecting money which perhaps would have a substantial amount. The reporting makes it sound a bit like the truck's arrival was a coincidence but I'm not so sure.

http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2016/03/20/3-dead-after-apparent-pennsylvania-turnpike-robbery-attempt/[/url]According to a news release, Crouse and Heist were confronted by Briggs in the toll booth area. When he tried to tie them up, a struggle ensued and Briggs ran from the building.

As he fled, a fare collection vehicle arrived. This is when the gunman shot and killed Crouse and Heist and opened fire on the fare collection vehicle. The driver was able to run away.

Briggs stole the fare collection vehicle and was attempting to unload cash from inside it when troopers arrived and killed him.
