Authorities need help identifying woman’s remains found last April in KC
42146

The remains were found April 5, 2016 in the 8600 block of East Truman Road in Kansas City. They are believed to be that of an African-American woman, approximately 25- to 32-years-old and approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9.

Jackson County sheriff’s deputies released Friday a clay reconstruction of what the woman may have looked like at the time of her death.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
The NamUs page for this UID page has been modified and it now says the remains are those of a Male

After DNA studies were completed....it was determined the subject is a male instead of a female....Anthropologically, the subject presents as female. The subject is described as small in stature / build. Edits to the sex of the subject will be made in the database to reflect a male subject.

Has anyone considered the possibility of this decedent being Dashad Smith #MP18608 ?

Smith went missing a few years earlier in Virginia but could have very well made it to Missouri in that time.
The resemblance is uncanny and they're the same height (5'8").

The biggest similarity, IMO, is the fact that both cases are transgender.
Namus describes this decedent as "anthropologically, a female." That likely translates to "cross-dresser" or "transgender."
Dashad "Sage" Smith also is reported to present as female.

I sent Sage into the ME as a possible match for this Doe, and she has been ruled out by dental comparison.

There is no evidence whatsoever that this UID is transgender. "Anthropologically, a female" means that the skeletal remains have physical features that appear more often in women than in men - no brow ridge, a wide pelvis, etc. That finding has no connection to being transgender.

Skeletal sex characteristics exist on a continuum and this may very well be simply a matter of a man whose skeleton is simply less rugged than average, but it might also be a sign of an intersex condition such as gonadal dysgenesis.

I should add that if this person is intersex, they may have been externally 100% female and might not even have been aware that they were XY. People without access to good medical care may live their entire lives not knowing they're intersex.

Just got a very unexpected email - this UID was confirmed as a match to Antoine Brown.
