Canada - Stairwell sexual assault of 52-year-old woman, Toronto

The suspect is a described as a 20 to 25-year-old black man standing about five feet nine inches tall with a medium build and some facial hair. At the time of the assault he was wearing black jeans, a grey hooded sweater, grey vest, dark toque tan shoes and was carrying a red backpack.

Police believe the man is armed and dangerous, and warn anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately.

Speaking with CP24 on Monday, Det. Sgt. Joanne Rudnick said that a man with a similar description was seen loitering in a building near Isabella and Jarvis streets at around 2 p.m. Sunday but left the area before police arrived.

In the wake of the incident, Rudnick said she is urging anyone who notices something suspicious in their building to contact their superintendent or police.

“If you see somebody in your apartment building who is loitering, who doesn’t seem to belong or is just kind of unusual I would ask you to speak to your superintendent, security or call police,” she said. “Don’t just do nothing, speak to somebody.”

TORONTO -- Police have made an arrest in a Toronto sexual assault.

No other details have been released but police say they will provide an update at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Kyle Michael Junior Young, 25, faces seven charges including sexual assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

“We believe that due to his actions just prior to the attack, the nature of the attack and the fact that the victim and the accused were unknown to each other, that there may be other victims,” Rudnick said.
