Clothing/Jewelry Description: Designer jeans and blue Western boots.

Details of Disappearance

Huyer was last seen in Orlando, Florida on July 3, 1982. She has never been heard from again. Few details are available in her case. A missing persons report wasn't filed until March 23, 1984.

According to a Park City Daily News (out of Bowling Green KY) article dated August 21, 1979, she had pled guilty to attempted automobile theft in 1979, and was sentenced to 12 months in county jail.

She was married. She married Michael Scott Hewes on 3 November 1980. I do not know whether they were still together when she disappeared. It appears that a divorce was granted at some stage as the husband remarried in 1990. Mr Hewes has a record from 1979/80 (http://mugshots.com/US-Counties/Florida/Miami-Dade-County-FL/Michael-Hewes.30800675.html) which seems to be about the time of Christine's run in. It does raise the question of the relationship and whether Michael Hewes has been seriously looked at by LE. Even if they had divorced before she disappeared the records would still raise a flag for me.

Christine's height and weight are virtually identical to that of Princess Doe from Blairstown, New Jersey. Huyer went missing twelve days before Doe's body was discovered in Blairstown. An eyewitness noted that Princess Doe said she was from Florida--Huyer disappeared from Orlando.

This is purely based on what we can see here, but it appears that Huyer's number eight incisor matches almost perfectly with Princess Doe's. Granted, Doe's tooth may have been chipped during the attack that ultimately killed her (as several were). However, if the forensic examiner mistook an already-chipped number eight (one of Huyer's most distinguishing physical features) for something that came about as the result of the attack, it would explain why Huyer has never been formally considered.

I don't, unfortunately. I'm sure someone does, though. It's one of those cases where there's so little, but it just feels like there's a bit more to it (though isn't there always?).

It seems like there was a marriage, a lapse in time between when she was missing and when she was reported missing. It's sad.

She appears to have a sister still living in Florida. This is through records on Ancestry which show a child born 15 months after Christine in the same location (Portsmouth, Virginia) with the Huyer name who can be traced through other records to the same school (West Orange High, Winter Garden) and her subsequent marriages. I have not included any specific information on the sibling due to site rules.

This, at least, means there should be no problem with dna matching to any unidentifieds.

The marriage seems to be likely to be unrelated as I have now found a divorce record from July 1981, only 8 months after the marriage and a year before she went missing.

Christine Teresa Huyer of Orlando, Fla. was indicted on charges of theft by unlawful taking over $100, receiving stolen property over $100 and third degree criminal mischief.

"Guilty pleas entered," Park City Daily News [Bowling Green, KY], 21 August 1979, 2.

Christine Teresa Huyer of Orlando, Fla., pleaded guilty today to an amended charge of attempted theft by unlawful taking over $100. Preliminary sentence of 12 months in the county jail was set for Ms. Huyer for her connection in an Aug. 2 attempted automobile theft.
