Vincent Wesselmann disappeared 5 years ago on a walk. Vince often walked around town and was last seen walking along North First Street in front of the Breese Grain Company in April 2011. At that time, police conducted an exhaustive search and even drained a pond in hopes of locating him. There was no indication of foul play. Few leads have come into Police in the last 5 years, even after the Clinton County Crimestoppers increased their reward to $10,000.00 last year.

The video at link below shows the area around the Breese Grain Co. as well as sights from the memorial service held to honor his life. The clip shows a poster which states that Vince volunteered at Camp Ondessonk for many years and helped build Habitat for Humanity homes for 17 years. The year he went missing they dedicated the 18th home in his honor. Vince sounds like the kind of guy we'd all want to have in our circle of acquaintances. I wish he could soon get back home to his loved ones.

Vincent B. Wesselmann is a U.S. Army Veteran who went missing from Breese, Illinois on Thursday, April 21, 2011. Vincent Wesselmann was known to walk to the U.S. Post Office in downtown Breese, Illinois each day to get a copy of the local newspaper, the Breese Journal. Around 5:00 p.m. on the day that he went missing, Vincent Wesselmann was seen by a neighbor walking downtown along North First Street in front of the Breese Grain Company, but he never arrived at the Post Office that day. Vincent Wesselmann lived alone and was not married. The following day, in the evening of Friday, April 22, 2011, his family was unable to reach him by phone. On Saturday, his family went to his house and was unable to make contact with him, but they did find his vehicle and bike in the garage and his “church clothing” laid out in likely in preparation for Church on Thursday night or Friday morning. Vincent Wesselmann missed both church services at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Breese Illinois.

Vincent Wesselmann is 75 years old as of the date he went missing in April 2011. Vincent Wesselmann is described as a white male standing 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 225 to 235 pounds. Vincent Wesselmann has brown hair and blue eyes. Vincent Wesselmann was last seen wearing a plaid or blue shirt with navy blue pants.

This is yet another baffling case. I've been following the VM disappearance for a while.

Since VM was elderly, when I first heard about the case I thought he may have had possible dementia/memory loss - which resulted in his not going back home. Or, possibly he died suddenly & unexpectedly due to a medical issue. But, if that happened - where is he?! You would think someone would have located him somewhere. This happened during the day in a small town, not in the middle of a large metropolis.

This reminds me slightly of the somewhat well known Rogest Cain case from 1986 (featured on an early season of Unsolved Mysteries).
