Kay Ricks, 62, was reported missing Thursday night. Ricks performs maintenance on downtown TRAX lines. His family said they spoke with him via phone around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, but a dispatcher who was trying to contact Ricks around 7 p.m. for a scheduled check-in could not get a response.

The man did not return home after his shift ended.

The Utah Transit Authority is asking for the public's help in finding an employee who vanished while working a shift Thursday evening.

Kay Porter Ricks, 63, a maintenance worker for UTA, was last seen driving his company pickup truck on 600 South just off I-15 on Thursday, said UTA Police Chief Fred Ross. Ricks was scheduled to work that day from 3:30 p.m. to midnight

Ricks is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 180 pounds, with green eyes and short brown hair on his balding head. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve plaid shirt, blue jeans and possibly a bright orange safety vest.

He was last seen driving a 2013 F-150 with an equipment rack mounted on the bed. Ross noted there are about 80 such vehicles in UTA's fleet. Ricks was driving one with Utah license plate No. 206886 EX.

Anyone with information about Ricks' whereabouts is asked to call police at 801-287-3937.

Meanwhile, investigators are also retracing the steps of Dereck James "DJ" Harrison, 22, and his father, Flint Wayne Harrison, 51, who had been on the run since allegedly kidnapping a Clinton mother and her four teen daughters and assaulting them on May 10.

The arrest of the younger Harrison came less than 24 hours after his father, Flint Harrison, turned himself in to authorities early Saturday morning. After surrendering, Harrison, "immediately started working with local investigators to locate his son Dereck," Sublette County Sheriff's Sgt. Katherine Peterson said.

DJ Harrison pointed a shotgun at the women at one point. After binding the daughters' hands with the tape and zip-ties, the Harrisons allegedly put a bag over the mother's head and began beating her with their fists and a baseball bat, according to investigators.

"(The men) sit mom down, and there's some conversation about, 'We're going to get to the bottom of what you did,' and then they start to assault her," Centerville Police Lt. Von Steenblik said last week.

I thought I had been following the kidnapping case fairly closely, but seemed to have missed that this gentleman's disappearance could be related. Thanks for posting cocomod. Makes me very concerned for Kay :( The Harrisons appear to be very dangerous individuals!

ETA: Didn't realize there were 2 threads for Mr. Ricks, sorry! Adding los to my list of thanks from above :)

UTA detectives first contacted Centerville authorities during their investigation to see if they were aware of a connection to the kidnapping and assault case.

“We informed them that we were not aware of any connection,” according to a press release from Centerville police.

“We believe that between all the parties involved who were communicating about this case, a misperception developed that there was a connection between the two cases,” the release states.

According to investigators the Harrison's were last seen in South Salt Lake on Wednesday evening and then we're not seen again until the weekend when they showed up 250 miles away. Police say they had to travel by car and are wondering who brought them there or how did they get there.

UTA says as part of it's investigation it had to ask the question to Centerville investigators whether they believe there was any link. They also asked Wyoming authorities to keep an eye out on the missing UTA truck just in case.

"We don't believe there is any connection, they don't nor do we, but that's a box we need to check. We know those individuals are very violent individuals where in the salt lake area. We've had conflicting time lines from Wednesday up until Thursday and then they end up in Wyoming," said Chief Fred Ross, with UTA police.

The news just said he was found dead in Wyoming. :(

There was certainly a connection.

SALT LAKE CITY — Centerville police confirms a missing UTA worker was found dead in Wyoming, Tuesday night.

Officials say this is not a suicide

Wyoming Bureau of Investigation is on the way to the scene.

This is an article written before his body is found. It is a bit more indepth then other articles though.

This whole thing started over a drug-induced paranoid attack. So very, very sad!

Police say the men were using drugs and tied up the women on May 10 because they wrongly thought the mother had reported them to authorities.

Searchers in Wyoming have combed the backwoods for his Utah Transit Authority pickup truck, and they are planning to use sonar to search a lake near the campsite on Wednesday.

They are searching lakes to see if the truck is there.

Officials said the body of 63-year-old Kay Porter Ricks was found about 16 miles south of Kemmerer in a rural area Thursday night.

His truck is still missing; the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office said it is launching a search and rescue boat equipped with sonar technology on both Fremont and Half Moon lakes, weather permitting, to search for it.

In the ABC article linked here in, this part is so touching...

He's married with three children and six grandchildren. The day he disappeared, Ricks left his house but turned around because he'd forgotten to kiss his wife on the way out the door, Massey said.

"He only wanted to be with one person, and that was his wife," he said.

You never know when your number is up. Make it count. RIP, Mr. Ricks.

I am in love with this family after watching the press conference and my heart goes out to each one of them. Now media, leave them alone to grieve!

Authorities say the FBI has joined investigators in Utah and Wyoming in trying to find out what happened to a train maintenance worker who went missing during a five-day manhunt for two suspects in a kidnapping.

Utah Transit Authority Police Chief Fred Ross said Wednesday that Kay Porter Ricks' work truck was last seen the night of May 10 in Wyoming's Lincoln County, which borders the area where the suspects were camping before their weekend arrest.

Wyoming county officials say Ricks' body was found in that same county Tuesday night while searching for the truck.
