A year after securing convictions in the 1989 cold case murder of Shannon Siders, some of the same investigators are tackling a 1983 homicide in which the victim's body has never been found.

Police on Wednesday, May 18, announced a task force of Michigan State Police investigators, led by Detective Sgt. Scott Rios, the Newaygo County Sheriff's Department and the county prosecutor are focusing on the slaying of Richard Atwood.

Michigan State Police say that Richard Atwood, then 25, was last seen on August 10, 1983 in White Cloud. Atwood and his 1975 brown Pontiac Trans-Am were reported missing on August 22, 1983. The car was found in the Grand Rapids area on October 17, 1983.
