Rippercast Podcast looks at LISK

We're a group of 9 Ripperologists; we spent about 8 months looking at the LISK case. This was the result. Our previous efforts dealt with the Maybrick Diary ink and Victorian era syphilis. (The latter is also available on Rippercast.)

We don't claim to be experts on LISK - just hope it opens some new and productive points for discussion of the LISK case. We tried to create a detailed timeline concerning the night SG disappeared and that led us to take a look at the tides that night, for example.

Mr. Anderson,

I"ve listened to your podcast 3 times and discussed it with people in the case.

Yes, this is an extremely detailed and huge "down the rabbit hole" case and it will be mind-blowing

when it is finally prosecuted.

Some points you made were good for discussion, but,

I wish to ask you

WHY did you say Hackett called SCPD to have choppers go OVER OB looking for Shannan on May 3.
From WHERE did you get your source from?

Thank you.

I don't have my hard copy handy but it is referenced on pg. 308 of my epub version of Lost Girls. I recognize the doctor's tendency to confabulate but as the choppers are said to have been there (by Kolker) I give it credence.

The doctor listened intently to Alex, even writing down some of what he said in a little notebook. He told Alex he knew nothing about what had happened to Shannan. But he said, “We’re gonna help you out with the case. I used to work with the police. We’re gonna call them. We’ll have this whole place searched.” Sure enough, later that day, helicopters were sighted above Oak Beach. They found nothing—hardly a surprise to Alex, since she had been gone for two days.

Definitely in the Kolker book as well as on different articles.

Searching Mike - can you please post the articles of which you reference?

Mr. Anderson - Thank u for that "cut and paste" reference, (but you typed it out).

FAROUK.....why the name team syphilis?...ewww sorry But that team name is really off...

Robert Anderson...are you...or are you related to captain Robert Anderson from the captree Pride?...if not....please simply disregard.

Possibly unrelated.....but just thought Id mention a Captain of the Captree Pride fleet is named Robert Anderson...he handed over one of the fleet to Ken Higgins. A regular of Captree party fishing parties...speaks highly of their service is a Mr Jung...Seems Mr Jung has made many a trip on the Captree Pride.....just a coincidence.? ....Mr Jung is good friends with close friends of Mr Brewer.....Weird coinky dinks....

If by chance you are one and the same Mr Anderson...Captain for Captree Pride.....Do you know or can you confirm that Dave Schaller was part of team Lauralee..... ...Obviously I already Know the answer....but if you are one in the same..did Dave ever Bring Amber down to Captree...Im thinking they were pretty close.........and it must be a small well knit community down there....

Wow it totally freaks me out how close Ambers remains were from her housemates place of employment........not implying anything...just stating the obvious

We chiefly deal with medico-historical issues, and our previous work dealt with syphilis in the Victorian era.

It is what it is. I'm not posting under the team name. Didn't think it was appropriate here.

Ok...well that explained nothing....

So are you Robert Anderson that works as a Captain for Captree Pride.?..Who hapoens to have an interest in....syphilis in the Victorian
era...

MODS..???

I didn't realize you were serious. No. I work in biotech. My only physical connection to the area is having grown up on Long Island. My parents used to take me to Tobay Beach as a kid.

And I introduced myself to Bess a year ago when I was interviewed by Rachael and Josh.

I am not the droid you seek.

I've known this Robert Anderson for over a decade and can guarantee you that the closest he comes to a fishing boat is when he's eating Japanese food in Manhattan.

Yeah I was serious.....I had to ask......would have been interesting if you were Captain Anderson.

But now that's sorted......

I wasnt able to listen to your podcast....tech difficulties my end....But I love your PDF presentation....it does raise some questions and areas that could be discussed and looked at further.

Going by the details of time and tide.....Shannan entered the marsh as daylight was breaking...so she would have been able to see where she was going?

She entered at low tide...and had approximately 2hours before high tide hit that area, is that right?

Are we back to this again??? Tell me how she made it that far into the marsh/brush while running from "nothing" hah. She makes it so far she is easily found right? NO. They had to bring in heavy equipment to find her. Sheesh. Not shouting at you Puggle - just people who THINK they have knowledge of the case but are truly ignorant. Grrrr

Yes Robert Anderson I am calling you out. Ilike the work you've done as a ripperologist. I only ask that you know of what you speak when you speak. Many peeps on this site regarding LISK know way too much. You should talk to more of us. I friended you so feel free to ask me anything...

Anderson read Kolker's book and is taking it as a bible of the LISK case.

Anderson had the nerve to post on here that Hackett called the SCPD and had choppers fly
over OB looking for Shannan.

THAT one statement that he is taking as FACT is funnier than anything Johnny Carson, David Letterman, Jon Steward or Jimmy Fallon ever did in a skit.

I assumed Mr. Anderson took his online name from Sir Robert Anderson, the Assistant Commissioner of The London Metropolitan Police during The Whitechapel Murders.
My online name on WS was originally going to be Inspector Abberline, (no relation to the clam inspector from Fire Island.) ;)

It's my real name - I use Sir Robert in Ripperology as a feeble attempt at humor.

Here's a snippet and a pdf from the Baltimore talk on what I find to be one of the more curious aspects of this case:

Defense Mechanisms (Discussion)

The Internet, and especially sites like Craigslist and Backdoor, has changed the dynamics of the sex industry. It’s enabled many women to avoid the old escort service or pimp system. The clients come to you and you don’t need to share much of the money. With the empowerment however comes danger. Big danger. There’s no way to assess whether a client is a psycho – you don’t get a look at him beforehand. Bear in mind Amber’s sister’s admonition that “8 out of 10 calls nowadays [are] affiliated with drugs” and you have entered precarious territory without a passport for return.

New York Magazine recently ran a cover article entitled “Is Prostitution Just Another Job?”. There is some interesting material there. First off they report that in one survey of New York City sex workers, 27 percent reported police had used violence against them. It’s important to bear this in mind as one LISK theory is that he is a cop. I’d argue that the Gilgo4 would not have necessarily dropped their normal defense mechanisms just because someone claimed on the phone to be law enforcement. In fact, if what we have read about former Police Commissioner Burke and his fellow cops favoring rough sex are true it might have set off an alarm.
What is also worth noting is one escort’s safety protocol.

She takes as many precautions as she can. At first contact on the phone, she listens to clients’ voices to see “if they’re saying things that are weird” or give her “that feeling” in the pit of her stomach. Before agreeing to meet them, she Googles their addresses and looks at their houses. (Anna also requires the info on clients’ driver’s licenses, or two references from other “reputable providers.”) She makes sure a friend knows where she is. For the first meeting, “I have a driver, so when I say, ‘Okay, your session is 45 minutes,’ then I will open the window and show them that the car is parked right outside their house. That’s the way of putting them into the mind-set that people care about me.”
She considers herself very lucky. “I’ve never really walked into a situation that was super, super terrible,” she says. “I don’t wanna make it seem like I know for sure that this person is safe, because safety is, like, not real.”

We don’t know the full protocols the Gilgo4 normally followed. (Show slide). But we do know a little. (Discuss slide) It’s clear that they did recognize the dangers of internet prostitution and did take precautions. Yet they all failed to observe them the night they met LISK. Why?

Long Island Serial Killer: The Shannan Gilbert Autopsy Report

Rippercast welcomes researcher Robert Anderson to further discuss the Long Island Serial Killer case, this time bringing to our listeners new information that is contained in as-yet unreleased Suffolk County Medical Examiner's report on the death of Shannan Gilbert. As an added bonus following the main one-on-one interview we include another conversation Mr. Anderson was able to have with Forensic Crime Scene expert Dr. Charles Tumosa.
