While San Carlos Park has some very nice areas... there are also some very shady areas. There are a lot of registered sex offenders within that small area. It doesn't say what time she went missing, but the last time she was seen was at was 2:00am.

Her family and neighbors are doing everything they can to find her, printing out fliers and placing them around town.

Nancy Martinez is Diana's cousin. She said Diana was last seen by her family when she went to bed at 10 p.m.

"They were supposed to wake up Diana for church this morning, she wasn't there," Martinez said.

"She wouldn't ever leave at night. Anywhere after 9 p.m., they don't leave the house unless they're together. This isn't a case where she's running from home for any reason.""

Stepfather of missing 9-year-old girl criticizes Sheriff’s Office search effort

The stepfather of missing 9-year-old San Carlos Park girl Diana Alvares believes the Lee County Sheriff’s Office isn’t doing enough to find his stepdaughter and said Tuesday that he plans to defy orders against conducting his own search.

Still, Lee County sheriff Mike Scott vowed in a statement Monday to do whatever it takes to find the girl, and multiple Urban Search and Rescue Task Force teams used machetes to hack through heavily wooded areas near the family’s home...

“My wife when she woke up she found ALL the stoves on,” he said.

When Diana mysteriously disappeared, her parents tried reaching out to the roommate. They say originally he didn’t answer their calls right away. When they finally got in touch with him he said he was in Orlando looking for work and didn’t know about Diana’s whereabouts.

Emotions escalate, theory surfaces as family enters Day 4 without missing girl

Family members said they have a theory about the disappearance of 9-year-old Diana Alvares, who was last seen Sunday at 2 a.m. in her home on Unique Circle in the Sheltering Pines Mobile Home Village.

Hand-drawn photos of butterflies embellish the door to her room, which has a since that reads “Keep Out.” Inside, colorful clothes hang over Alvares’ mattress, which is on the floor and missing sheets. Before she vanished, the 9-year-old may have taken with her a green blanket with flower print, deputies and family members said.

[...]

She is 4-foot-4 with black hair and brown eyes, authorities said. Alvares might be wearing blue bottoms and her parents said she went to bed in a black long-sleeve shirt with rhinestones. When Hernandez woke up around 7 a.m., she noticed something strange: all four of the burners on her stove were turned on, according to Alvares’ stepfather Uribe Jimenez.

He noticed Alvares’ purple-striped shoes were missing from her room.

A family member said Alvares could be with a man who rented a room in the home. Alvares was very attached to this man, who moved out of the home two weeks ago, the family member said. According to family, this would explain why the family dog did not bark when Alvares disappeared.

Deputies have not confirmed any details about this former housemate.

http://www.winknews.com/2016/05/31/e...-missing-girl/

Hernandez said Diana’s father, Martin Alvares, sent them a text message on WhatsApp on Thursday, asking about his son but not Diana. Hernandez, speaking in Spanish, said Alvareswas deported to Mexico and that she didn’t give him their phone number.

Nancy Vizcarra, who said she is Martin Alvares' girlfriend, visited Hernandez and her live-in boyfriend, Uribe Jimenez, later Tuesday. She defended the girl’s father, saying he knew nothing about her disappearance and is still in Mexico, worried about Diana.

Vizcarra, who lives in Okeechobee, argued with the mother and her boyfriend, saying, “She doesn’t care about her kids.” Deputies pulled Vizcarra aside, and spoke to her before she left Tuesday evening. She said she would try to get custody of her boyfriend’s children.

[...]

Investigators said the abduction angle is just one scenario they are looking at.

“This is so fresh and we have so many leads, we don’t want to speculate,” said Lt. Jeff Dektas, public information officer for the LCSO.

Authorities: No evidence Diana Alvares is still in the area

--snip--

The Lee County Sheriff's Office said this morning that they have no evidence that Diana Alvares is still in the area.
The sheriff's office closed its staging area near the Sheltering Pines mobile home park in San Carlos where Alvares lived. She disappeared from her home sometime Sunday morning.

"After a massive and exhaustive search in a several mile radius around Diana Alvares’ home it has been determined that there is no evidence to suggest that she is in the area," a press release from the sheriff's office said mid-morning Wednesday. "Leads coming in from concerned citizens and other investigative avenues are actively being pursued and at this point we cannot comment on them."

Closing the staging area doesn't mean the search for the girl has ended.
"Our investigative teams remain in the field, and will leave no stone un-turned in the aggressive investigation into Diana’s disappearance,' the release said

------------------------------------

"i know that people know her in Okeechobee," he said. "She was there with Rita."

Jimenez also wants to know if authorities have talked to a former roommate who moved out recently. He said he has not heard if the man has been contacted.

"He lived with us for nine months," he said.

Jimenez, who said he will finally complete his process to become an American citizen this year, has never gone back to his native Michoacan, Mexico birthplace and doesn't wish to.

"I came here 15 years ago, in 2001," he said.

http://www.news-press.com/story/news...nues/85233838/

"She's somewhere else. But my heart tells me she's still alive," he said. "I was going all around in my head. I'm still upset. Still thinking how, when, who."

Jimenez said he has to stay strong for Hernandez, who is ready to give birth to their daughter any day.

While not discounting any possible scenario," Jimenez said that he just wants news.

"I just want to find my girl," he said.

He said the family contacted*the principal at San Carlos Elementary School, where Diana went.

"Any little thing that could help us," is what he said they asked the school for.

His next move is to possibly go to Okeechobee and talk with people there who work in the area."

All inquiries on these charges and request for documents must be address to the Federal Authorities. The investigation is active and on-going as detectives are diligently continuing to look for clues and run down leads and interview anyone who might know the whereabouts of nine-year-old Diana Alvarez.

Update #8

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is confirming that the person of interest in the Diana Alvarez Amber Alert, Jorge Guerrero, is being detained. In the early morning hours of June 4, 2016, Lee County Sheriff Office detectives, along with our Law Enforcement partners in this non-stop investigation, tracked Guerrero down in a neighboring County. Locating Guerrero did not resolve the case as Diana was not with him.

Investigative teams remain deployed while we communicate with a host of Agencies as this investigation continues. While we appreciate and are thankful for the general public and media’s interest in this heart wrenching case, Diana’s safety is paramount. We will not get ahead of ourselves in this active investigation by putting out too much, too soon, jeopardizing her safe return. Further updates will be made available whenever possible.

Update #7

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is updating our media partners that the tan Chevy Malibu from the Diana Alvarez Amber Alert has been located. This was as a result of aggressive investigative efforts. This locating of the vehicle did not lead to the recovery of Diana or the person of interest Guerrero. The LCSO wanted the citizens at large to know that the need to look for this specific car is no longer necessary as we have it now in Law Enforcement custody.

At the moment we are not commenting on where the recovery took place as efforts are still underway. A large gathering of media would give away Law Enforcement’s presence in the area diligently trying to discover where Diana and Guerrero are. It is possible that they remain on the move and so a broad area would continue to need diligence from many eyes of the public and not a specific area of narrow focus.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is working this case in lock-step solidarity with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and our Local State and Federal partners. The flow of information about this missing nine year old female, Diana Alvarez, and the person of interest, Jorge Guerrero, is seamless between the LCSO and the FDLE.

Anyone with information should call the Lee County Sheriff's Office at (239) 477-1000. Diana Alvares was last seen in the 3500 block of Unique Circle in Fort Myers, Florida, wearing a short-sleeve shirt and shorts.

“I saw a phone there and picked it up,” said Morehouse. “The phone was on. It was kind of dead. I plugged it in to keep it charged. I couldn’t get into it because it was locked.”

But on Friday, investigators found Morehouse with the phone in Daytona Beach with the phone and confiscated it in front of his co-workers.

“It felt like we were watching a movie. They came in and they were straight and direct, and surrounded the car at gunpoint, but it was for a good reason,” said Jude Antrum, the owner of the lawn service.

“I wish I could do more. I’m glad to be a piece of the puzzle,” Morehouse said.
