B.C. developer and philanthropist Amarjit Singh Sandhu was just steps from his truck when he was gunned down at approximately 6 p.m. The 56-year-old was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.

Sandhu is the owner of Sandhill Developments, a residential and commercial construction company passed in Richmond. A Punjabi newspaper editor estimated the victim's net worth at approximately $100 million.

Police believe he was killed in a targeted hit.

The vehicle is described as gold / silver in colour and appears to be a Chevrolet Trail Blazer...

ON June 6, IHIT announced that the suspect in the targeted shooting of Sandhu is a male in his early to mid-20s, approximately 6 feet tall, slim / slender build, wearing a grey or light grey coloured hoodie or coat, medium to dark coloured pants and possibly wearing a baseball cap. He is non-white...

The witness said that the suspect used a gun with a silencer and that he heard “at least six shots that sounded like a paintball gun.”

"Sandhu was one of several South Asians who were arrested and charged with conspiring to murder visiting minister of state of Punjab, Malkiat Singh Sidhu, on Vancouver Island. Sidhu survived the assassination attempt on May 25, 1986. Sandhu became a Crown witness much to the consternation of the four men who were convicted and sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment in February 1987."
