MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Jury selections start Monday for the Sidney Moorer trial. He faces kidnapping charges in the Heather Elvis case.
Last week, a judge granted the defense attorney’s motion to have separate trials for the kidnapping and obstruction of justice charges.
The Elvis family holds a vigil every month on the 18th to commemorate the last day she was seen or heard from which was December 18, 2013.
Saturday’s vigil held special meaning for her family with the trial set to begin.

Gallery: Day 2 of trial for Sidney Moorer, charged with kidnapping of Heather Elvis
BY WPDE TUESDAY, JUNE 21ST 2016

The first full day of the trial for Sidney Moorer, the man who is charged with kidnapping missing Socastee woman Heather Elvis, began shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday morning and wrapped up around 5:30 p.m.

The first witness of day two of the trial was a man named Stefano Schiraldi, who went on a date with Heather Elvis the night before she was reported missing in December 2013.

The prosecution also called two Horry County police officers to the stand who found Heather Elvis' car at the Peachtree Boat Landing.

WMBF News

The start of day three of the Sidney Moorer kidnapping trial will see the jury getting a ride by two areas in the vicinity of Peachtree Landing where surveillance cameras captured footage in the early-morning hours of Dec. 18, 2013. That footage was shown in court on Tuesday.

A reporter is out at the locations where the cameras are and tweeting. I hope this isn't big it's a screenshot from my phone:

Anyone have the live link for today?

What concerns me is how the Jury is processing all the testimony/information. I would feel more confident about all if the pregnancy was confirmed. Yes, as an observer, I can sit here and say, Heather was probably pregnant. We have the true motive. If I was sitting in a Juror's seat, not so sure what my thoughts would be in regards to this unsubstantiated information. Hoping BW can shed more light on this.

So let me get this straight:

- Sidney, with his wife in truck, heads to Walmart at 1:12am - 1:19am where Sidney goes into the store to purchase a pregnancy test, claiming it's for the wife, who stayed in the truck (what woman wouldn't want to go into a store herself, given the opportunity?)

- Sidney, with wife still in truck, heads to a gas station...but not to get gas... no he parks behind some shrubs/dumpster, leaves wife in truck, goes and makes a nearly 5 min phone call to his ex-mistress, supposedly telling her to "stop calling him." Except she hasn't called him. He's calling her. Does he use a cell phone? Nyet. He uses a payphone. How long does it take to say, "so...stop calling me!?" Wifey sits in truck while this is all going on, unaware.

- Meanwhile, according to Sid & <modsnip>, they now have this purchased pregnancy test for TM to use. Except... TM is drinking and continues to drink. So much so that the next month (Jan) her own sister comments in text form to Sidney that <modsnip>needs to 'get sober.'

- Supposedly the 'pregnant' <modsnip> upon being arrested and jailed, doesn't tell anyone she is pregnant UNTIL a bond hearing in March. At the same time jail officials confirm TM has refused prenatal care, and the various things that go with it. Then, all of a sudden, TM is "no longer pregnant," alleging she suffered a miscarriage.

Uhhh Huhhhh....

AND the jury is supposed to buy this???

I still don't understand why the media isn't under gag order and Taylor Herlong Digital Journalist @ WBTW News13 was allowed to do that live interview with Sidney yesterday :dunno:

Good post.

Also - TM didn't trust SM - she kept him handcuffed to the bed at night. But he is 'allowed' to go into Walmart by himself and to call his ex by himself.

It is a real stretch for me to believe SM was buying a PG test for his 41 year old alcoholic wife and they were trying to have a baby.

The media is never under a gag order in covering a criminal case. It's the parties *to* the trial who are covered by a gag order -- the attorneys, the defense, the state, the victim's family, etc.

I sure hope not. So far, the state is doing a great job connecting all the dots. Let's hope they manage to tie it up in a pretty bow like you just did for Heather and her family.

BTW, wasn't there a rumor that HE went to hosp ER close to the night she disappeared? Or was it SM? My memory has faded, unfortunately.

There was another Heather Elvis that went to hospital the night she disappeared.

Then SM went the night before he was arrested.
