A woman serving a 45-year sentence for murdering her grandson faces another 40 years in prison after confessing to killing her two young sons in 1974.
Elizabeth K. Shanklin, 58, an inmate at the Rockville Correctional Facility, will be sentenced Nov. 17 in White Superior Court.
Shanklin told investigators during a 2003 prison interview that she had killed her 6-month-old son, Christopher, and 2-year-old son, John, in 1974 because she wanted the attention they were getting, according to court documents.
Christopher's June 1974 death was at first attributed to sudden infant death syndrome, and John's death three months later was attributed to bronchitis.
