Suicide bombers hit three Saudi cities

RIYADH (Reuters) - Suicide bombers struck three cities across Saudi Arabia on Monday, in an apparently coordinated campaign of attacks as Saudis prepared to break their fast on the penultimate day of the holy month of Ramadan.

The explosions targeting U.S. diplomats, Shi'ite worshippers and a security headquarters at a mosque in the holy city of Medina follow days of mass killings claimed by the Islamic State group, in Turkey, Bangladesh and Iraq. The attacks all seem to have been timed to coincide with the approach of Eid al-Fitr, the holiday that celebrates the end of the fast.

As I posted in another thread, tomorrow (Wednesday in the U.S.) is eid al-fitr. I don't think the ramadan/ eid bombings and mayhem are over yet. And I'm flying to Europe Wednesday, so the timing is particularly bad for my nerves.

And hey!! Hajj 2016 starts Sept 9! A mere 8 weeks from now. Almost 2500 people (muslims!) were crushed or killed there last year, so one can only wonder with breathless anticipation what kind of carnage THIS exciting pilgrimage year will bring! Get your Disney-esque magic-band bracelet! A bracelet will keep everyone safe THIS year! Genius, I'm telling you-- pure genius! Just exactly like Disney World!

I just wanted to encourage you to relax and enjoy your EU vacation. My children and granddaughters just returned from a two week stay on Anna Maria Island and at Disney in Orlando, which, of course, was just after the mass shooting and gator attack on little Lane. We cannot allow ourselves to become terrorized by these demons. I wish you and yours a safe and happy EU holiday.

Oh my word. Technically its safer to fly than drive. But appreciate the length of time of ferries and driving etc etc etc .
