A Fourth of July celebration turned deadly when three or four armed men rolled up to a home where many had gathered to watch fireworks and opened fire, killing three men and wounding a child and another man.

According to the Houston Police Department, the crowd was gathered on Robin Street near Wilson in the historic Freedmen's Town neighborhood in the Fourth Ward, watching the Freedom Over Texas display and also setting off their own fireworks. When the suspects showed up around 10:30 p.m., they apparently were only targeting one man, but ended up striking five.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences confirmed Jamal Dixon-Lackey is among those who died.

Video circulating on social media showed the sound of fireworks turning to gunfire.

"We heard a lot of strange sounds that didn't sound nothing like fireworks. And all of a sudden seen everyone running for cover. Kids and adults," Rosaland Jackson said.

She said many people ran to her family's store just down the street for cover. She said the dead included her nephew, 28-year-old Charles Jackson. She said he had three daughters.

This reminds me of that case where the family was having a BBQ and those men showed up shooting, one to scare them and then the other shot people as they were running from the first gun..
