Authorities said Flamion was shot from behind Friday while walking to his patrol car. He was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Fri = July 8.Handgun used was .22 caliber. {{ETA: lots of pix at lnk}}

The officer was taken to a local hospital.

After shooting the officer, the gunman Antonio Taylor, 31, of the city of St Louis, drove away, ~4 miles, abandoned car, fled on foot in residential neighborhood. He was captured a short time later. A .22 was later recovered by LE. Taylor was charged with first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a weapon. Bail was set at $500,000.

"Taylor spent roughly two-thirds of the past decade behind bars, according to available court records.
In 2006, Taylor was charged and convicted in Beckham County, Okla., on charges of second-degree robbery and unauthorized use of a vehicle, online records from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections say. He was sentenced to five years in prison and released on Jan. 29, 2009."

And his crim history extends to MO, including illegal possession of firearm, and more, more, more. See discrepancies between statements in his letter to the MO judge and his parole office's reports re drug tests, & other parole violations. He was released from prison in March 2016.

Sad, sad, sad. Thoughts & prayers for him, family, friends, PD, and community.

Has anyone seen this on national news? thx in adv.

Draper said Flamion has not been able to breathe on his own since being shot. He said he and others from De Soto remained friends with Flamion and met with his relatives at Mercy Hospital St. Louis, in Creve Coeur.

“He’s certainly not out of the woods. He’s a very active person and doesn’t like people taking care of him. He has only been able to communicate by moving his mouth,” Draper said.
