New tropical depression forms in southwestern Caribbean

MIAMI (AP) - Forecasters say a new tropical depression that has
formed in the southwestern Caribbean could become Tropical Storm
Beta in the coming days.
The National Hurricane Center says the system is not expected to
threaten the United States.
At eleven p-m Eastern, Tropical Depression 26 was about 100
miles south of San Andres Island and about 170 miles east-southeast
of Bluefields, Nicaragua.
The system has a poorly defined center and maximum sustained
winds of 35 mph. Forecasters say up to 20 inches of rain are
possible across western Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
The system's winds would have to reach 39 miles per hour for it
to become a tropical storm. It would become the 23rd named storm of
the Atlantic hurricane season, extending this year's record. The
previous record of 21 named storms had stood since 1933.

Think of it this way

For those of us who have forgotten the Greek alphabet, here's a good way to remember...

It looks like the center path of Beta will swing down a bit south of Aruba on Thursday as it's winding down. Interesting, as I don't think they get hurricanes very often down there.
