The Conroe man who shot and killed his 3-year-old daughter before committing suicide Friday was a military veteran coping with posttraumatic stress disorder, according to the Conroe Police Department, which had responded to a domestic issue at his residence less than two weeks ago.“It’s a terrible scene,” Sgt. James Waller said. “Horrible.”
Conroe police arrived at The Dominion Apartments, located in the 15000 block of Interstate 45 South at the corner of FM 1488, after deputies with the Precinct 3 Constable’s Office tried to serve a writ of attachment to Brian David Gilson, 45, in order to take possession of his little girl and to issue a protective order. “Those are issued when there is a family violence involved and they believe there might be further family violence,” Waller said. “It’s something the actual victim petitions to court through the district attorney’s office for a protective order.”
CPD responded to the man’s residence only 10 days ago, the only call to the residence in the past year, Waller said.
