So...
This cop takes the kid to subway, for a meal, said a little prayer before eating...

Why did he not pray that the good Lord give him the grace and humility to handle this situation sensitively, instead of publicly shaming and humiliating this entire family?

Those poor children indeed. Pics of the inside of their fridge, their messy home plastered all over the news...How is that "helpful"? Charitable? Kind?

Honestly! I don't think this 7yr old, when he is older, is going to look back with fondness on that 'nice officer' who bought me lunch.

Oh yes, it makes great press, shames mom, I get it, but those kids will suffer.

Shame is so freaking destructive to the soul. I don't see any "Hero's" in this. At. All. jmo

I also highly doubt this kid was 'starving', and hadn't eaten in 'several days'...

The whole family may need some help, but public condemnation rarely heals anyone.

Cop Who Fed Boy Trying to Sell Teddy Bear for Food, Praised

An Ohio police officer who bought a meal for a 7-year-old boy who authorities say was trying to sell a teddy bear to buy food says he's surprised by all the praise he's received.

Franklin police say they've been inundated with emails and phone calls praising Officer Steve Dunham's actions. One call even included a marriage proposal.

Again, making a public spectacle of this entire family, was not the act of a "Christian" as office Dunham proclaims himself to be.

It was the equivalent of putting the whole family in stocks in the village courtyard.

These children did not deserve to have their personal lives plastered all over the news. World wide. Just so this PD could score some good press. Very depressing that the people seem to ignore how these children were humiliated for the sake of egotistical "Christian" LE. Uhhgggg...
