From above link:

"The testimony alluded that the trio had a fraught relationship in the weeks before Bettig's death, and also hinted there may have been a romantic relationship between Ishler and Geier who police said are related as uncle and niece."

"After his arrest, Ishler told a trooper during an informal conversation that Geier was the driving force behind the plot, while he carried out the murder, Wakefield said."

"Ishler said Geier's influence over him came from the 'power of a [female private part],' according to Wakefield."

(these two are disgusting IMO)

Motion to suppress confession in Bettig murder denied
BY JEREMY HARTLEY
jhartley@centredaily.com

A motion filed by George Ishler seeking to suppress his reported confession in the murder investigation of Penn State professor Ronald Bettig has been denied by a Centre County judge.

The article includes some new details on the interview and confession. Also, a few other motions were discussed in the article, and here's some bullet points on those:

- Ishler filed several other motions that were decided back in March.
- A motion to sever his trial from Geier was denied.
- A motion to appoint an investigator was granted, with $1,500 allocated for that purpose.
- A motion to view the crime scene with his counsel was denied.

- A motion to postpone the trial was also granted earlier this month, moving his trial from the June court term to the August court term.

Most recently, a trial in September was continued citing a request for a mental health evaluation to determine Ishler’s competency to stand trial. Ishler’s attorney stated in court Monday that, while she was not happy with the outcome of the evaluation, she respected the “limited methodology in determining competence.”

Geier’s attorney — discussed the issue of taking the jury to the quarry where Bettig’s body was recovered. That visit is planned for the second day of the trial. The lawyers noted that weather conditions were unlikely to be favorable in the early months of the year. The court agreed that April would likely have better conditions.

The court indicated the trial would be scheduled for 12 days. Ruest said she would issue a ruling to postpone the trial until the February term.

Jury selection began on Monday for the trial of a man and woman accused of killing a Penn State professor in 2016. The trial is scheduled for April 16 to April 27.

One potential juror was dismissed because they felt strongly that George Ishler, the man accused of murder, should be required to provide testimony at the trial.

Danelle Geier is also charged in connection with the death of Ronald Bettig.
