R.I.P Gene. I'm so sad to hear this.. He was a truly funny actor, loved him in Willy Wonka and Young Frankenstein. Now he can join his wife Gilda Radner (who may have been a distant cousin of mine).:rose::rose::rose:

I, too, thought of Gilda when I saw this. A wonderful man, he will truly be missed! Can you imagine the laughter those two are creating right now! Bless you, Mr Wilder and thank you for your years of laughter.

Pat

For three years Wilder had battled what his nephew called "this illness-pirate" in private, Jordan Walkder-Pearlman said.

"The decision to wait until this time to disclose his condition wasn't vanity" but an attempt to shield the countless children who still think of him as Willy Wonka from harsh reality, Walker-Pearlman said in a statement.

"He simply couldn't bear the idea of one less smile in the world."

Isn't that just beautiful?

RIP Gene :rose:

So sad to log in and read the news of Mr. Wilder' passing. His absolute talent and range will be remembered by generations - something actors strive for but very few achieve.

This was linked on BetteDavisEyes' @NBCNews article, so I thought I'd share:
