Police are searching for a 15-year-old girl who escaped from Grace Cottage, a level-four, detention facility for adolescents, Delaware State Police said.

State police officers were called to the center, located at 1825 Faulkland Road, at around 5 p.m. Friday after the girl, Alexis M. McGonigle, went missing.

On its state website, Grace Cottages is described as a "staff-secured residential program focusing on the unique treatment needs of adolescent females in a safe, gender-sensitive environment." The facility has the capacity to house 14 kids.

Troopers Issue Gold Alert for Missing Dover Woman​

Dover – Delaware State Police Troop 3 is issuing a Gold Alert for 23-year-old Alexis M. McGonigle of Dover. McGonigle was last seen on December 17, 2021 at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the Dover area. Attempts to locate or communicate with her have not been successful and there is a concern for her safety and wellbeing.


DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police have cancelled a Gold Alert for a 23-year-old Dover woman. Police say Alexis M. McGonigle was located in good condition Monday afternoon.

McGonigle was previously reported missing on December 19th after her whereabouts had been unknown for two days. She was last seen on December 17th around 4:30 p.m. in the Dover area. Police say there was a concern for her safety and wellbeing.

So this girl/woman went missing from Wilmington in 2016 and again from Dover in 2021. Both times found safe?

She is a survivor, for sure. I hope she’s not in the life and I hope she is cared about, now and in the future, by people who want good things for her.
