On Monday, a second round of jury selection begins in Brunswick, where potential jurors are expected to be more open-minded toward the former Home Depot web developer accused of intentionally locking his 22-month-old son inside a hot car to die.
Opening statements are scheduled for Oct. 3 but could possibly start sooner, depending on how fast a jury is selected.

I am currently watching the courtroom on live stream. It looks like it is going to be a while before we see anything of interest as the courtroom is virtually empty right now. Should we expect any jury interviews this afternoon?

I joined WS for this case, and I am eager to the jury selection and the subsequent trial get underway.

25/250 = 10% asking to be dismissed because of hardships

Back from lunch, jurors claiming hardship making their case to be dismissed from #RossHarris jury #hotcardeath

Per Cobb courts spokesman, #RossHarris jurors will be questioned in groups of 36, not individually #hotcardeath

People claiming hardships are having a tough time getting dismissed from jury duty...

The judge and attorneys questioned 35 possible jurors who asked to be excused. Out of six people questioned before lunch, just one was dismissed altogether: a man claiming he had excruciating back pain.

Those who might still get picked include a father-to-be expecting his child to be born this week, a man whose daughter is getting married this weekend and a doctor who works in a rural emergency room. They all got time off, but must return to the courthouse before jury selection is finished.

Staley Clark has set aside two weeks for jury selection and is then expected to take a week off. Opening statements and testimony are scheduled to begin Oct. 3. The trial is expected to last up to six weeks.

Harris stands accused of both malice murder, which gives jurors the option of finding he intentionally left Cooper in his hot car, and felony murder, which would allow jurors to find Harris guilty of criminal negligence.

Separately, Harris is also being tried for engaging in sexually explicit chats with underage girls. He faces two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and six counts of disseminating harmful material to a minor.

#RossHarris trial sked: 2 wks jury selection, off last week of Sept. Openings Oct. 3

Opening statements could come next week if jury selected quickly

I am going to go out on a limb here. The high number of hardship requests indicates that the jurors are familiar with this case. They don't want their lives on hold for several months. Given their knowledge of the case, Ross is not going to be any more sympathetic in Glynn County than he was in Cobb County. I sense that jury selection is going to be very reminiscent of the first round.

I thought Staley ruled against the defense's request to sever the charges relating to minors? IIRC, those charges will be brought into (and used against him) during this trial.
