Lawrence Reddick Jr. is charged as an adult in connection with the deaths of William Cade Booher and Dane Mathesius...

Reddick and two other teens conspired to rob Booher of marijuana and money. Police said Mathesius and Reddick set up the drug deal, citing phone records that showed they were in contact with each other just before the shooting...

Autopsy results showed that six shots struck Booher, who was in the backseat: five to his head and one to his neck. Mathesius was shot once in the chest. More than a day after Booher was shot and killed, Mathesius' body was found behind a nearby abandoned home...

Ronald Foster Jr. and Deontae Jones are also charged in connection with the shooting.

"We had to convince they jury that the individual on trial today was guilty of murder although he did not pull the trigger. He set up another person to get in the car with a gun," Lozier said.

The teenager who prosecutors said pulled the trigger, 17 -year-old Lawrence Reddick, is in jail awaiting his trial which is scheduled for April

“We respect the jury's verdict and now we move on to sentencing which will be Oct. 17,” Lozier said.

Aliquippa teen sentenced to prison for double homicide

Before a courtroom packed with grieving families, an Aliquippa teen was sentenced to serve at least the next three decades in prison after he was convicted in a 2016 double homicide.

Ronald “Reno” Foster, 18, was sentenced Tuesday by Beaver County Judge Kim Tesla to serve between 34 and 70 years for the shooting deaths of 18-year-old Dane Mathesius and 16-year-old William Cade Booher, as well as the robbery of a 13-year-old boy who was present at the time of the incident.

Before rendering the sentence, Tesla described the incident and commented on the impact it has had on all of the families involved.

“This courtroom is filled with pain,” he said.

Cade Booher, who was 16 years old, took a 15-minute ride to Aliquippa that led to his death; his mother said it also metaphorically ended her life.

She told the judge, "I'm in hell, living hell everyday. Cade was brutally taken in the most horrific way. I will never recover."

Dane Mathesius, 17, was an accomplished pianist. His mother told Foster, "What you did was evil, pure evil."

Foster, who was 17 years old at the time of the killings, took the stand Tuesday, crying as he told the court, "My apologies to the victims' families. I wish I could exchange my life with theirs. I ask you to forgive me. If not now, some day."

Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday in the trial of an Aliquippa teen accused of opening fire in a drug deal-turned-robbery that killed two young men.

Police have long pointed to Lawrence “Pooh Rat” Reddick Jr., 19, as the shooter in the September 2016 shooting that claimed the lives of 18-year-old Dane Mathesius, of Brighton and New Sewickley townships, and 16-year-old William Cade Booher, of Beaver.

Co-defendant Ronald “Reno” Foster, 19, was convicted in August of conspiring with Reddick on Sept. 29 to arrange a marijuana deal with Mathesius and Booher. The prosecution alleged Foster and Reddick planned to rob the teens at gunpoint of money and drugs.

After a lengthy trial, Foster was found guilty of third-degree murder and was sentenced to serve between 34 and 70 years in jail.

A Beaver County jury said Friday it was at an “impasse” in deliberations, but will still return Monday morning in an attempt to render a verdict in the case against Lawrence “Pooh Rat” Reddick Jr.

The jury returned at about 1:30 p.m. Friday and told the court it was “at an 11 to one impasse” because one juror was “not following the definition of reasonable doubt.” The jury said the unidentified juror was looking for a 100 percent certainty in determining a verdict.

Man gets 65 to life in drug-related Aliquippa slayings

Since her son’s death, Cari Booher has received the usual sentiment from well-meaning acquaintances that time heals all wounds.

“What they don’t understand is that I’ll never heal,” Booher said.

No more off-key singing, hockey games or hibachi dinners. Cari went to Cade’s grave for the first time about a week after Reddick was convicted. She waited to visit her son until she could tell him it was over – the investigating, the hearings, the media attention.

Dane’s mother, Daleen Patsiga, addressed Reddick directly.

“How cruel have we become as people?” she said. “What is wrong with our society that we’ve come to this?”

Her son will always be on her mind. She lost her nightly concerts, free and at the whim of whatever instrument Dane chose to play that evening. His piano still sits in her living room.
