At Least 57 Killed By Explosions At 3 Hotels In Jordan
"AMMAN, Jordan -- Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister Marwan Muasher said 57 people were killed in three suicide bombings at hotels in the capital of Amman.
Police said 115 were wounded in the almost simultaneous explosions.
A U.S. counterterrorism official said no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Jordan's King Abdullah said the hand of justice will get to the criminals.
Officials said they believe all three blasts were carried out by suicide bombers.
One police official said, "The attacks carry the trademark of al-Qaida." However, he added that "it is not certain," and that authorities are investigating the cause of the blasts.
The official said the Jordanian-born leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Musab-al-Zarqawi, has a dislike for Jordan and has used suicide bombers.
The triple attacks sent ambulances screaming across downtown. A black cloud of smoke was seen rising from a building in Amman's commercial district after the evening explosions..."
