Bronson Field was previously part of the Naval Air Station. This person could potentially be military.
 
Modified in Namus in November 2019 but I can't see the change - maybe a ruleout was added.
 
That is the base area as mentioned before. Also, the VA Hospital is right there. He could have been a homeless vet living near the national cemetery land. The ocean isn’t far either for a bus ride to the beach for bathing facilities.

Death would have been within weeks in the FL heat since they mention putrification, receding hairline, gray stubble.

Other Information: The decedent was found approximately 3/4 mile, west of Bronson Field, in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida.
 
On June 15, 1970, the remains of a white man were found west of Bronson Field Gate near Pensacola, Fla. The man was between the ages of 45 and 60 years old. The man had brown hair with balding in the front, was 6 foot 1 inch, and weighed between 180 to 200 pounds. When he was found, the man was wearing a blue shirt, checkered swimsuit and red socks. Today the man would be close to 105-years-old.
