Coleraine both discovered and resolved this Mendocino County cold case. http://theava.com/04/1201-jerrysullivan.html
Jerry Sullivan's body was discovered in a redwood grove across from the Navarro Store. There were few clues available, and the investigation stalled for almost 30 years, until 2004.
A cigarette butt among the evidence was then tested for DNA. The DNA matched a prisoner in Oregon, Robert Vaughn, who was already convicted of a second degree murder. Vaughn's confession contained information known only to the perpetrator and the detectives.
Coleraine suspects Vaughn may have been involved in the cases of Linda Lee Lovell and Stephen Locke Packard: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...-18-Westport-CA-June-1974&highlight=Mendocino
Sullivan was murdered alongside CA Route 128, which is a potential route for the two hitchhikers above, and his death came about 15 months after Linda and Steve vanished. It does make one wonder.
