I saw Leon Russell at an outdoor concert in Phoenix in the 70s. I was in the front row.
At one point Leon looked at me and smiled. Leon had the most beautiful blue eyes. :crush:

Rest in peace, Leon. Thank you for your music.

Adored Leon Russell. Never got to meet him, but in the 1970's, in Tulsa, Leon had a church he made into a recording studio that I got to visit. Here's a video of the church and his daughter.

Leon had a total of five children - two from Mary, and then three children with his long-time, current wife Jan.

You got to visit the Church Studio? Wow, that must have been quite an experience. It's still there; this morning fans had left flowers at the door. My mother has met Leon several times. She was really into the Tulsa music scene in the mid- maybe even early-70's. He had a really large home in the Maple Ridge area of Tulsa that she would point out to me when I was a little girl. Of course, she's crushed but thankful for the music and the memories.

I saw him many years ago at the Warehouse in NOLA, and many times since. Sure will miss him. :(

Not just Okies.

Oh, I know not just Okies!

Hugs to you, Bessie. It's been a strange day. I had to inform my husband that I AM IN MOURNING today, all day. He is not familiar with Leon, he grew up in freaking Germany. He did give me a good hug. haha

Growing up in Tulsa, you knew who he was! So many great songs. RIP.
