Ransom demanded for missing Washington woman

The FBI and local law enforcement agencies are looking for a Washington state woman after she was abducted from her Kennewick home and a ransom was demanded.

Kennewick Police Sgt. Ken Lattin said 69-year-old Sandra Harris was taken Friday by someone she knew. Lattin said her abductor then used Harris' cellphone to call her husband at work to demand an undisclosed amount of money in exchange for her return.

"This was not a random act," Lattin said. "They're not related. We're not exactly sure what the nature of the relationship was, but this was not random."

Yikes. Ransom paid, arrests made, and still missing.

Abductions for ransom are rare in the United States.

AP article in OP. ^

This sounds really bad. I hope she will be found alive,

Yikes. my hinky meter just snapped and fell to floor. :( I sure hope this lady is located alive and well.

Connell is 35 mins from me, and I just moved from Kennewick..

Connell is know for very very low crime in general.

What a horrible person! I hope she confesses where SH is. Her husband must be so worried :(.

This is my area. I am just reading about this and trying to share on FB. I would like to see more being shared more as technically this is a small area and people will pay attention if informed.

The abductor is from Connell. Sandra Harris is from Kennewick, WA.

Praying for you Sandra! this is quite frankly a horrid situation. Our local paper. "Sandra Harris, 69, was still missing Saturday evening despite an intense search for the Kennewick woman after she was taken against her will from her home Friday, police said.

I hope they've been tracking this horrific excuse of a person's cell phone by now.

Spokane WA paper
“There’s possibly another suspect or suspects involved, or it’s possible she acted alone,” Lattin said. He said they didn’t know what condition Harris is in or where she might be.

Abductions for ransom are rare in the United States.

“They are unusual for us here as well,” Lattin said. “I’ve been here 28 years, our chief has been here 35 years plus, and that’s not something that has happened during our lifetime here in Kennewick.”

I know this has probably been posted, but here is the link for Sandra Harris's local newspaper with that story. Interesting that this was not a random kidnapping per the article and the people knew each other.

If you Google the husband, it looks like he has a successful pawn shop/jewelry store/gunshop/small loan place in Kennewick. They seem to be fairly affluent and that might have caused targeting for the kidnapping.

So the alleged perp isn't giving up the victim yet, I conclude.

Wow, this is close to home. I hope they find her. It's such a rural area I wonder if she's in an abandoned barn out outbuilding. Hoping the suspect tells investigators where Sandra is.

I hope they can track phone and digital footprints.

Unfortunately the fact they have the perp in custody and she's not giving up the details as to where Sandra is, she's willingly risking a murder charge instead of just kidnapping. So IMO poor Sandra might no longer be alive. No one would risk an unnecessary murder charge.
