The 18-year-old was last spotted on a CCTV camera walking on Longman Road in the Highland capital in the early hours of Thursday, November 10.

He had earlier been in pubs in the city centre and last spoke to his family at 8.30pm that night.
A major police operation has been launched to try to find the missing teenager – and yesterday his family issued a plea for help to find him.

Specialist search officers also continued looking for signs of the young man in the Longman area and on the shoreline of the Moray Firth.

In a statement, his family said: "Our son Adam left home on Wednesday afternoon (9 November) to go in town, where he was seen talking and having a laugh with people he met in the Tooth and Claw pub.

"He last spoke to his father at 20:30 in the evening."

Mr Mitchell is known to have left another pub, Wetherspoons, just after 00:00 and he was alone when seen walking down the Longman at 01:00 on CCTV on 10 November, his family said.

The statement said: "Adam is a typical teenager who loves heavy metal music. He constantly wore his off-cut denim jacket that was decorated with patches of his favourite bands, it was his pride and joy.

"He was wearing it when he was last seen over the top of his leather jacket, he always wore black jeans and black boots."

I've just really upset myself looking at the family posts on SM.

Unfortunately, I think with the time that has passed and the weather being as it has been in Scotland, we are not looking at the happiest of endings.

I so hope I'm wrong; he looks like a lovely, gentle guy from all I've seen.

Hoping, hoping, hoping, but not overly optimistic of a safe homecoming.

:please:

Oh, I hope he's okay and hasn't fallen into the sea :( :( :(

Oh no, poor Adam, where are you? I feel a strange affinity to him, being a fellow rock music lover.

Have thrown together a map, which has made me question his direction of travel (away from the area he lives). I must admit I'm scared of hearing bad news - judging by the coastal search I'd imagine some tidal investigation has been done :(

Interesting comments in this article stood out to me "We are desperately concerned for our son who seemed to have lost his way, we would dearly love for our son to return home to us.” and also "They say he was a friendly and gentle teen who "seemed to have lost his way"."

Poor Adam :(

Do you think they mean "lost his way" figuratively or literally?

Oh no, I just looked at the map, heading right towards the bridge.

Is there anything in that direction that he might have been going to?

What's the bridge called?
Have we heard anything about his state of mind that night? Was he just a young guy having a night out, or was there anything that upset him that night? Couldhe have had a row with someone and stormed off?

Or was he drunk enough to have literally lost his way and headed in the wrong direction?

“He didn’t wear jewellery unless you include his headphones. He was always listening to music when he walked anywhere.
“He was friendly and open with everyone he met and he was a gentle fun-loving young man who was loyal to his friends.
“We are desperately concerned for our son who seemed to have lost his way. We would dearly love for our son to return home to us.”

Poor lad. Can only hope that he's ok and just laying low somewhere. Its been too cold outside...

It's hard to see him (due to distance and video resolution) but he does not appear to be overly drunk or in any distress, IMO. He is walking briskly and straight in one direction like he knows where he is going--not looking around trying to decide which way to go. It almost looks like he is dancing a little as he walks--perhaps he had his headphones on listening to music as his family said he normally did?

Where are you Adam?
