After 17 years, missing Giles County mans case classified as homicide
Hes been missing for 17 years, and on Tuesday, the Giles County Sheriffs Department classified the case of David Gene Duggar as a homicide.
We just kind of suspected foul play at the time. If it was foul play, we would like to get his remains so we could go and visit him, Bobo Duggar told News 2.
We want closure, his sister Cindy Arnett added.
Genes father passed away in 2002. Sheriff Kyle Helton promised him hed solve the mystery of his missing son.
We are not giving up. We never will, the sheriff told News 2.
Missing Case Now a Homicide Investigation
The Sheriff's Department has not stopped investigating the case in the seventeen years, but about a year ago, Sands and Giles County Sheriff's Department Investigator George Barturen began working the case together that's now an active homicide investigation. Sands said with new evidence, there is reason to believe Duggar never left Giles County.
Duggar disappeared without a trace March 15,1999. He was 44 years at the time. Sands said the story told was Duggar had left on a Greyhound bus.
Investigators say that in 17 years, there is not a single financial trace of Gene Duggarnot a Social Security hit, not a bank transaction, not a credit card.
