Gets sicker and sicker :

She later admitted to injecting her son's own fecal matter, which she kept in a gift bag on the bathroom sink of his room, since November 13.

one of her five children,

he’s required several surgeries to changes his central venous line due to concern for infection," and that "he could have died from any one of the episodes of septic shock.
six counts of aggravated battery and one count of neglect of a dependent.

So I guess this means she did it 6 times?

"flush it as the medicine that was given to him burned."

The boy developed life-threatening blood infections as a result that also delayed his cancer treatment, the station reports.

Numbing... the thought process..... a teacher with 5 kids...........if someone tried to pitch this to a studio they would pass

goodness

I know I know some think I think everything is mental illness, what kind of thinking could result in someone "thinking" this might not be dangerous?

In a convoluted way, it seemed she thought if she got him sicker they would transport to another hospital, so in a circular way I want him in a better hospital so he can get well then I do something to make him sick??

The other kids better be elsewhere.

Boy is that backward. It's bizarre thought process.

Sounds more like Munchauesen's by Proxy to me.

BBM: Actually, the only hospital in the country that could provide anything he is not getting at Riley would be St. Jude's. (Riley is where Lance Armstrong was treated- it is a world-class oncology center). The fact that she is a teacher is disturbing on many levels.
I have been involved in MBP / Medical Child Abuse cases like this - the thought process of the offending parent is not anything bordering on logical.
What is concerning is the fact that this victim is a teen, and did not / could not say anything about his mother putting stuff in his central line.

Respectfully, let's call it what it is: Medical Child Abuse. (I think you will see this change in the media and literature in the coming years.)

Yes, thanks for the correction. What I meant was, the mother was probably abusing the child for attention.

Alberts' son had been receiving treatment for Leukemia since early August 2016 at the hospital, a Marion County police affidavit said. He was released and returned to the hospital a few days later, in early September 2016, with a fever, vomiting and diarrhea, according to the report.

Blood tests of the boy showed organisms that are normally found in feces caused an infection which an extensive medical evaluation could not to explain...

Alberts was brought to the Child Abuse Office for questioning, at first stating she was injecting water to "flush it as the medicine that was given to him burned."...

Dr. Veda Ackerman, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at IU School of Medicine who is treating the boy, said her greatest concern is missing the best window to keep the boy's leukemia in remission. The doctor added he "could have died from any of the episodes of septic shock and may well from his leukemia due to the prolonged delay in therapy."

Absolutely, Rayemonde! I have never been faced with medical abuse anywhere I have worked, thank God. However, we admitted an 11 year old whose bloodwork came back with a blood sugar of almost 500. He had not been diagnosed, but was taken to the doctor for "not feeling good". He slipped into a coma later that eve, and was transferred to Wichita. When there was none to little improvement after five days, and he remained in a coma, his mother insisted on DC'ing all life support. Naturally, he died, and the parents ended up divorced, the dad taking the other child. Everybody I worked with was shocked and concerned over the mother's decision. Had he been my child, I certainly wouldn't have given up all hope after five days. And the decision to continue treatment would have nothing to do with the fact that I am an LPN!

That is truly sick

I don't know! I am inclined to thinking she thought it would be easier to lose him than watch him go thru chemo and all of the nastybside effects. Chemo is a terrible thing to see somebody go thru, but losing them would be much worse. Luckily, my kids have been healthy, as well as my grandbabies. The worst thing we had to deal with was a grandson who had to put on soy formula, and medicine. The medicine was only needed for a short time and by the time and was able to drink regular milk by the time he was two. My son and daughter-in-law were emotional wrecks for a couple of weeks. If that's the worst thing any family has to go thru, they are very blessed!

That's exactly what I was thinking why on earth would she even think to use fecal matter to begin with. I work as a 4th year nursing student not in the oncology department but I am wondering where she even got a syringe to be able to inject it into his Iv bag??? But yes when a child is going thru cancer treatments slot of times munchauesens by proxy can set into a parents thought process all the attention etc I'm curious if she has had any issues with someone like CPS with her other children???

Sadly there have been a few mother's who have done the exact same thing.

Candida Fluty:

A mom accused of deliberately contaminating her nine-year-old son's intravenous drip with fecal matter has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Candida Fluty, 35, of Kermit, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges.

She was caught on camera taking her sick nine-year-old son's colostomy bag and removing feces from it and then using a syringe to inject it into his IV.

Nashelle Lynn Wood :

Her [ 4 year old] son, who nearly died from a bacterial infection that prosecutors say resulted from the injection, was being treated at Children’s Hospital for an overdose of pain relievers. He is recovering...

Authorities were called by doctors, who recognized possible evidence of Munchausen by proxy syndrome, a rare disorder in which parents harm their children to draw attention to themselves.

Wood brought her son to the hospital Jan. 29 for treatment of a Tylenol overdose. Wood had told nurses the boy had tried to kill himself, raising doctors’ suspicions. She also reported a long history of illness for the boy, including a cold medicine overdose at age 2.

Kathleen Bush:

On April 16, 1996, Kathleen Bush was arrested by Florida police, who accused her of making her daughter sick by poisoning her with medications and allegedly contaminating her feeding tubes with human feces...

Jennifer posed with the First Lady after the youngster’s mother Kathleen Bush, then 39, won Hillary Clinton’s heart with a beseeching letter: ” Do you know what it is like deciding between purchasing groceries for the week to feed your family or buying needed medicine for you chronically ill child?”

Stephanie McMullen, 29, was charged Thursday with assault and reckless endangerment counts and released on bail.

Serena Sherrard:
