Investigators search for missing Indiana woman in Florida
fox59-background51.jpg

Rachael L. Madison, 44, was staying with family near Ormond-by-the-Sea after leaving Indiana to distance herself from her estranged husband, Jarvis Madison, 58.

Rachael was last seen leaving a home on Rivocean Drive sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday to go for a jog on the beach, but she never returned.

The woman’s family believes her husband is holding her against her will.

A report from the sheriff's office said that Madison fled Indiana to stay with her aunt “to avoid further violence.”
A Volusia County Sheriff's Office report said that Jarvis Madison is wanted by warrant in the state of Indiana on a charge of criminal confinement, which carries a bail amount of $15,000 with full extradition.
Madison’s aunt, Joyce Newsom, said Madison has been in an abusive relationship with Jarvis Madison for the last four years.
Channel 9 found out he was indicted in Kentucky in 2013 for unlawful imprisonment and violating an emergency protective order that Madison had taken out against him.

Really worried about Rachael :(

He has a handgun and is a transient (maybe lives in his vehicle?).

Comments from above link indicate local news reported discovery of a body on the beach n
In Ormonde by the Sea.

I am local, and have not heard of a body here, but there is a report of one found at the next beach north.

It would be about 15-20 miles from her last location. Not familiar with this park but didn't they say he frequented parks?

"Authorities described Jarvis Madison, who is believed to be armed with a .45-caliber handgun, as a transient who frequents 24-hour Wal-Mart stores, gas stations and state or local parks."

I was at the beach walking about that time. Never noticed a jogger, but i was not really paying much attention. Beach was fairly empty.

update: the report from Flagler sheriff makes it sound like the remains found on their beach had been there a while. press release said M.E. office confirmed remains are human. So seems remains could not be from the day before. I am assuming anyway based on the wording.

the remains found in flagler beach north of here appear to be old. They were uncovered by hurricane matthew so unrelated to this case. Maybe connected to another cold case though. https://flaglerlive.com/102224/remains-varn-park/

I am not finding any report of another body found in Ormond since the one found several days ago. not sure what those comments come from. Maybe they are confusing reports.

officials in Indiana obtained a warrant Monday for Jarvis Madison's arrest on a criminal confinement charge.

Rachel Madison has been in Florida since Nov. 16. Authorities say her husband had been calling relatives inquiring about his wife's whereabouts and had even threatened to kill her aunt for hiding her.

Prayers for Rachel and her family. Hoping for her safe return.

Worried for this woman! If he is no longer calling relatives trying to find her then it is likely that he has her. Praying JM is captured without hurting Rachael or anyone else... except himself (did I say that out loud?).

Oh, this doesn't sound good. Saving my place. Praying for her safe return.

More details on the abuse this poor woman has suffered at the hands of her estranged husband:

Reports indicate Jarvis Madison had poured acid on a tattoo of Rachael's, leaving a wound on her back. He had also allegedly cut the back of her neck with a knife.

[...]

The reports then indicate Jarvis held her hostage in his car while driving around with the handgun in the car.

Rachael eventually asked if she could use the bathroom and Jarvis kicked her out on the side of the road, police say.

When she tried to run he fired his handgun at her, but missed, reports said.

Praying she is found safe.

Jarvis frequently called Madison and her family members threatening to kill her if she did not come back to him. On the day of Madison’s disappearance, Jarvis tried one last time to reach his wife, thirty minutes before she went for her run.

While Jarvis held Madison hostage at gunpoint on Nov. 14, Madison called her and kept her on the phone. At one point, Madison attempted to run away but Jarvis allegedly shot his gun at her, making her return to the car out of fear.

After some time, Madison convinced Jarvis to stop at a Wal-Mart in Indiana. Once inside, she called police, whose arrival on the scene allegedly prompted Jarvis to flee.

On Monday, a felony warrant was issued for his arrest on criminal confinement charges.

The couple were homeless and lived between motels in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, police say. They sometimes lived in Jarvis’s 2011 silver Honda Pilot, police say.

“We know generally that in the past [Jarvis] has been drawn to state parks and 24-hour businesses, like gas stations, but there are a lot of those between Indiana and elsewhere.”

BBM. That should be all the proof they need to know who has her. Now, they just have to find her.

Praying this woman is found alive! Sounds like she has some good instincts and knows how to deal with him when he is livid. This story has really upset me, more than most.

Horrifying. Hope she is found alive.

Her aunt told detectives Rachael had been in good spirits since she had been staying with her and she was working on a resume in hopes of getting a job. She said Rachael ran along the beach daily, often for an hour or two at a time, but she would always return.” Currently, Volusia County authorities believe that Rachael Madison left to be in the company of her husband, though they aren’t sure whether she had left with him on her own free will, if her life is at danger, or if she had gone missing due to another reason.
