Patti Pendleton, of Coventry, was reported missing at 1 p.m. Tuesday by family after she didn't show up for work. She was last heard from at 11 a.m. Monday.

The police think she was hiking on a trail south of Route 165 near Beach Pond with her black toy poodle and black fox terrier, which were coupled in a harness system and wearing orange vests.

Pendleton is described as 5-feet-2-inches tall, weighing about 230 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a purple sweater over a flowered shirt, blue jeans and hiking boots. She may be wearing an orange vest and an orange hat.

I wonder if she lives with someone? How do we know for sure she took that trail to walk her dogs, and where are the dogs?

The news said she had been hiking there frequently and was familiar with the area. Her car was found there. Dogs haven't been found as of yet. The news was saying it's 14,000 sq mi so it's a large area to search. News also said she'd fallen there once before and was rescued. I don't have a link as I was watching the local newscast at noon.

My friend is out there searching with the team. I'm going to see what she says later. It's unseasonably warm the past few days, so that's a good thing.

Praying she is found quickly!
And safe and alive! I was worried about the weather! That is relieving knowing it is not freezing! Thank you for your inside knowledge!

Is it normal for her to go off of trails? Or does she stick to the trails? Maybe they can use some heat seeking equipment. If the dogs are harnessed together they should be easy to spot. I would think they wouldn't wander off from her?
I would want to venture to guess she wouldn't go into the rougher terrain due to the dogs not being able to tolerate it?
Plus her having health issues I would hope she would stick to trails and safe terrain.
Praying for her safe return!

I'm in RI - hope she will be found soon and in ok shape. As a previous poster said its been quite warm the past few days (tho rainy and probably slippery).

Hopeful quote from her son...

“She’s very smart. She knows how to survive,” Mike Pendleton said. “I mean, my family, we were all scouts. She’s a single mom, so she had to pick up some of the basics.”

Does she let the dogs offlead? Maybe one of the dogs got into trouble, and she tried to rescue it herself and also got into trouble. Falling off something, or falling into a body of water. Or maybe one of the dogs just disappeared off the path and she strayed off the path looking for it and got lost.

The search for 59-year-old Patti Pendleton is set to resume at 8 a.m. Friday.

Police say more than 150 people searched the 16,000-acre Arcadia Management Area on Thursday. Police say Pendleton has hiked there before and is familiar with the area.

The search turned up a pair of prescription glasses that belong to Pendleton. Her car was found on Tuesday.

Here's another updated article. They still have a glimmer of hope that she'll be found alive. If not found today they'll reassess their efforts.

My friend said it was very hard to find info about how to volunteer so she just showed up. They were turning a lot of people away for things like wearing sneakers. Which I get, you don't want a volunteer getting hurt or lost, but there were lots of people trying to help who got sent away. She helped search for a few hours, but didn't find anything.

Apparently there are black bears and coyotes on RI. Maybe they wouldnt bother a healthy person, but might go after a small dog or a person who had fallen down and hurt themselves :(

There are not a lot of black bears. It makes the news every time someone encounters one, maybe once or twice a year. Coyotes and fisher cats, we have lots of those.

I know that small dogs can and will be eaten by coyotes especially.
Coyotes will also attack humans too. Happened on our farm to a close friend of ours.It went straight for his face and neck area. Thankfully he had a big stick with him and was able to hit him hard enough to kill him. He had his rifle over his shoulder but something told him to pick up a stick laying beside the path. He's sure glad he did too! As the coyote leaped at his upper area of his body he hit a homerun on his skull. No telling what would have happened had he not picked up that big stick. Our farm has loads of different wildlife on it. We even catch a mountain lion on our game cameras from time to time! I wish I could access my daddy's old computer that had many photos of the mountain lions and different wildlife. But his comp died not long after he passed unfortunately.

Ugh. I wonder where she could be. Find the dogs, you are more likely to find her.
It's been 5 days. Is it really possible that she's no longer alive? It seems like such a short time. But not really sure😟
