Deer hunter's death remains 'such a mystery' - January

“We are not going to give up,” Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen said this week in an interview.

Investigators for the county and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) won’t share details of the crime scene, nor will they speculate in public about possible scenarios. At a news conference Dec. 7, Larsen said the 41-year-old hunter died from blood loss resulting from a gunshot wound. He wouldn’t say from what distance or direction the shot or shots came from, but he noted it was “definitely a homicide.”

“It’s just such a mystery. It’s mind-boggling,” Babe Brisk said this week. “There’s just no answers.”

Since the news conference, the sheriff said his department has received “some good leads” and that investigators continue to search for the missing rifle. The only new tidbits he released were that trail cameras in the area have been “canvassed” by investigators and that the missing gun lacks a front “peep” sight. It broke off and Terry hunted without it, Larsen said.

On Jan. 13, Pam said, she and Terry would have celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary. They met at a wedding dance and had been together ever since. His loss has been difficult for each family member and they all show it in different ways, she said.

She wants justice for the person who robbed her children of a father, but lately she hasn’t had a burning desire to know what happened.

“I don’t know how I feel anymore,” Pam Brisk said. “It’s hard to sit here every night without him. I suppose it would be great if they found something out, but it’s not going to bring him back.”

Sheriff brings Crime Stoppers in on Brisk murder case - February

While the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek the public’s help in the investigation of the murder of Terry Brisk in November 2016, it has enlisted the help of Crime Stoppers.

Crime Stoppers, a statewide nonprofit organization, allows people to come forward easily and anonymously with any information about the case.

Information received by Crime Stoppers will be forwarded to the investigators on the case, while preserving the anonymity of anyone who submitted it.

Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen said the $30,000 reward from local donors remains in place for information that leads to the arrest of the person who shot and killed Brisk.

New evidence recovered in deer hunter murder

On Monday, investigators were back out on the property looking for something they may have missed during the initial searches. Sheriff Shawn Larsen says they located some items of interest that were submitted to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) lab for processing. He could not confirm whether or not Brisk's rifle was found, which investigators have been looking for since day one. He also said the office has persons of interest in the case, but could not elaborate more.

"I feel confident and comfortable that we’re going to get a conclusion in this case very soon, hopefully," said Larsen.

Brisk's parents say they are hopeful at the news of new evidence and hope it leads to learning who killed their son. Still, they're pleading for anyone with information to contact authorities.

Physical evidence was recovered from the scene, but one thing that was conspicuously missing was Brisk's 30-30 lever action Winchester rifle. Locating it, Sheriff Shawn Larsen said, would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

On Friday he announced good news for those who care about Terry Brisk. "We found that needle," Larsen said.

While he wouldn't go into details as the investigation is still very active, Larsen told reporters his investigators found the rifle intact and brought it to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) Laboratory for testing. While forensic specialists are still looking at the gun, Sheriff Larsen said his investigators believe Brisk's gun is the weapon used to kill him.

''LITTLE FALLS, Minn. — Seven years have passed since Terry Brisk was murdered while hunting. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that they have new technology to test the evidence in the case.
"I only have a few years left and I hope to find out who did this before I die,” Terry’s father, Virgil Brisk said.

Terry's body was found on his parents' land in Little Falls. His parents say he took the day off of work and they didn’t know he was hunting on their land. Sheriff Shawn Larsen believes while Terry was hunting, there was some back-and-forth interaction with the suspect. They believe the suspect then shot Terry with Terry's own rifle.
The gun was found in 2017 but no other key evidence has surfaced.''
