Family members tell 11 News both are experienced fishers, but this was their first time on Lake Pueblo...

Paul Cruz, Montoya's uncle, said he was worried when he heard about some strong afternoon waves that hit Pueblo Saturday.

"Waves were pretty high -- and that being a bass boat, which is low -- I don't know if that had any affect but I'm sure it did. I'm trying to put myself in his place. Knowing that you can't make it back and you see them waves coming in -- it's terrifying to even think about things like that," he told 11 News.
