John "Jack" Walsh's family last saw him Tuesday afternoon, and they're desperate but determined to find him as winter weather only gets worse.
"At 7 o'clock at night, the nursing home called us and said, 'Do you still have him?' and we said no, [because] we signed him in at quarter of 1," said Jennifer Bakanosky, one of Walsh's sisters. "That's when we first realized that he was missing."
Walsh has special needs and other mental disabilities, so he lives at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry. He went out to lunch with Bakanosky and one of his other sisters Tuesday afternoon.
They dropped him off at the home, and later that afternoon, he had a doctor's appointment at the nearby Parkland Medical Center. Walsh was transported there by nursing center staff.
However, hospital surveillance video shows Walsh leaving the hospital alone. That's the last time he was seen.
