Tara O'Shea-Watson knew that if she didn't get away from her estranged husband, he was going to kill her...

Monday around 8 a.m., New Jersey State Police were dispatched to Raymond Drive in Commercial Township for reports of an unresponsive woman. When they arrived, troopers found 35-year-old O'Shea unconscious. She was pronounced dead a short time later...

State Police Tuesday would not confirm the restraining order, the cause of death or any details about the investigation. But according to Morey, Monell cut her throat in front of their son and their son had to run to the neighbors for help.

"It was living hell," Messeck said. "He beat her. She was constantly on the run from him. She wanted nothing more than to get out of here."

The New Jersey State Police are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Jeremiah Monell, according to the state police Facebook page...

Monell is described as a white male, 5-foot-9 and approximately 140 pounds.

Monell is still on the loose:

Tara O'Shea-Watson's son found his mother dead and went to a neighbor's home seeking help, according to the 911 call that a neighbor made to authorities...

The tape seems to confirm what police had said in their complaint filed against Monell, that he had been at his estranged wife's home the night before her body was discovered Dec. 19...

Court records say that Monell violated a restraining order by coming to O'Shea-Watson's house on Dec. 18 and then killed her by stabbing her with a knife "multiple times" in the abdomen, chest, back and face causing her death."

Attorneys for murder defendant Jeremiah E. Monell entered a not guilty plea at his post-indictment arraignment hearing Friday morning in Cumberland County Superior Court...

Judge Cristen D’Arrigo set June 9 for the next hearing date, at which point both sides may submit motions. A trial date is not set...

The prosecution has offered a plea bargain in return for a guilty plea to the murder charge that would avoid a trial... The defense is waiting to review all evidence before responding to the offer.

Murder trial begins for husband in 2016 stabbing of wife

Jan. 4, 2019

"BRIDGETON – The trial of Jeremiah E. Monell for the 2016 murder of his estranged wife got off to a late and erratic start in Cumberland County Superior Court on Thursday morning, at one point looking like the defendant might miss the first day altogether.

Monell, who has sat in jail for two years now, appeared 90 minutes late. He arrived with a claim of inhuman treatment, which is not the first time he has accused his jailers of not treating him correctly.

Monell, now 34, is charged with first-degree murder as well as weapon and contempt charges. The Cedarville resident faces a prison term of life without the possibility of parole, if convicted on the murder charge....

Not long into the three-hour afternoon session, with defendant and witnesses finally in place, the "horrors" that county Assistant Prosecutor Charles J. Wettstein touched on in his opening remarks were presented to the 10 women and four men of the jury...."
