I saw this locally. It's heartbreaking to see such a young girl lose her life after making high risk choices. What leads a 16 try old girl to sell her body for money? She gambled and lost. How do we reach these young kids to convince them they are worth so much more than that? Clearly, her family cared deeply for her.

Its really so very sad. Different world than she I grew up. Got all these online places on these stupid smartphones kids can meet up with God only knows who.
Can't take the phone away, they rebel. I am not sure there are any ready answers other than creating jobs, which hopefully the US can do. Job would keep them busy and give them some cash.
I feel for her family. I pray they find peace and comfort in one another and with God.

Someone was pimping her out. She had apparently been missing for several weeks, and a 33 year old man has been arrested on federal sex trafficking charges. This 33 year old man is the "friend" who was supposed to be watching/waiting in the car for her safety. He was apparently sleeping in the car while she was murdered.
This infuriates me. My heart is broken for her mother and family.

Bail denied for alleged pimp charged with sex trafficking teen slain by client
Days after 16-year-old Desiree Robinson was slain allegedly by a man who had answered an online sex ad, the teen's pimp realized he had a problem, federal prosecutors say.
The issue for Joseph Hazley wasn't so much the girl's violent death it was that his cash flow had been interrupted, according to prosecutors. To boost his bottom line, Hazley reached out to another girl whom he used to pimp.
"Now that she's gone, I have no money coming in," Hazley allegedly told the girl, identified in a criminal complaint as Individual B. "I need you to come back to work for me."

The prosecutor said that woman saw Desiree at Hazley’s house in December 2016 and commented, “you look young as hell” while asking the girl for her ID. Parente said Hazley then dragged the woman out of his house while she insisted, “that b—- looks so young.”

Robinson’s accused killer, Antonio Rosales, is still awaiting trial in state court. That’s where Yvonne Ambrose, Robinson’s mother, is also fighting a civil battle against Backpage and others she holds responsible for her daughter’s death.
It’s nearly been a year since the feds seized Backpage and its affiliated websites last April. They hit several people, including Backpage founders Michael Lacey and James Larkin, with a sprawling criminal indictment set to go to trial in 2020.
