DeKalb County police said the 18-year-old walked in on an armed robbery at a Stone Mountain apartment complex.

Detectives believe she interrupted three to six armed robbers who had tied up two people staying there.

The residents, a man and a woman, told police they were in bed at the time the black-clad men armed with handguns and shotguns stormed into their apartment at the Hampton Village Apartments on Tree Mountain Parkway...

The woman told police that shortly thereafter, she heard Malone enter the apartment, heard her scream and then heard several shots. She said she then heard one of the suspects bring Malone back to the rear of the apartment. The couple waited for several minutes before untying themselves and calling police.

By the time officers arrived, Malone was dead.

I always wonder who killed Honey. Last year they said they found a gun that was linked to the case. Then there was no update. Could this have been an accidental shooting covered up?

Arrest made in a nearly 8-year-old DeKalb County cold case murder
''DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - Police in DeKalb County announced a major break and an arrest in a nearly 8-year-old cold case murder.

Donald Ashe, 34, was arrested on Friday around 4:30 p.m. for the murder of Vanessa “Honey” Malone back on October 23, 2012.

Jail records show Ashe is charged with second-degree murder and making false statements.

"We have chased hundreds of leads in this case that have led us all around the southeast. Every single lead that has been brought to my office has been followed up on. That has helped in bringing us to this conclusion," said Sgt. Lynn Shuler with the Dekalb County Police Department.''
